Wolverine DVD on shelves today...

It was...................disappointing.
After all the flack they got for X-Men 3, you'd think they'd step up their game for Wolverine.

Was that Emma Frost or not?

Yes. According to the credits her name is Emma. Also, the female doctor that was there at the adamantium bonding experiment and later working on Wade, the one who told Stryker that not even that adamantium bullets would kill Logan and that he'd only heal from it was named "Dr. Frost". Perhaps yet another sister for Emma and Kayla here in the movie continuity?

What was her power, the ability to be a human Bedazzler?
Why was she made of Bling?

Her secondary mutation is to transform into a diamond form, a form she is currently trapped in in the current comics. Pretty similar to the way Colossus changes, but without the strength.

If she's the sister of "Silverfox", then her last name isn't "Frost". Therefore she's not Emma "Frost" she's Emma "Silverfox".

They could be half-sisters (most likely on their father's side, given that Kayla appears to be a "mixed breed"). Or Kayla could have married at some point and taken that last name.

Just to name two possibilities.

Natural diamond isn't bling/Karot. Diamond mineral/stone cut into that form. In the comics/cartoons Emma's diamond form is of uncut diamond not in karots.

Just to name two possibilities.

Kayla appeared to be older than Emma and around the same age as the Dr. Frost. So Kayla and Emma could have the same mother, and genetic source of their mutant gene. While the Dr. Frost is also Emma's sister, same father different mother, making her and Kayla step-sisters as the pre-existing children going into a second marriage of their parents. Possibly never got along or considered each other sisters. Dr. Frost also seems to have no problems with her little half-sister being locked away near her lab, possibly indicating that she also harbors a hate for mutants. Her dad marries one, brings in that one's daughter and makes her her "sister" and then goes on to actually father one of his own in Emma! So she becomes a doctor, a scientist, and dedicates herself to learning all she can about them so that she will have some kind of power over them, rather than them over her. But Kayla never concerned herself over the Frosts, she was more interested in the culture of her dead father and followed his native american roots. And she welcomed her sister Emma when her mother had a second child, it didn't matter to her what her last name was.

That fits and I just made it all up. It isn't hard to connect the dots yourself, think of it as a puzzle. In the old days of Marvel, this would get a no-prize.

Why would Stryker send a mutant with an uncanny ability with guns to kill Wolverine, then mention five minutes later only adamantium bullets can kill Wolverine? Umm...why didn't you give the sharp shooting mutant the adamantium bullets?

Funny. I also thought that Wolverine would have had two obvious holes in his skull from the bullets. Adamantium doesn't heal. I guess nobody noticed them before whenever they checked out his skeleton, like in the first movie.

I liked that Sabertooth talks instead of being a growling dumbass. I really wish we would have had some more of the historical scenes last more than the opening credits. I wanted Deadpool to have a few more minutes of joking around.

I bought the movie for my girlfriend, who is normally a scifi fan. She didn't seem to dig it that much though.

I was excited that there was going to be a Wolverine film exploring his past when it was first announced and that we would see Weapon X and Sabertooth. Then I saw the first teaser trailer and was ugh. Then I started reading about all the character additions and changes that were being made to the movie and decided not to see it. My friend who knows nothing about X-Men other than the first three movies dragged me to see it opening weekend. I was disapointed.

One of the problems that I have with Wolverine (aside from the goofy X-Men Origins) is that it suffers from all these other characters who are unneccessary but were probably requested by executives to be in the movie because they're recongizeable to fans and they wanted a few "cool" moments. I mean why does Cyclops have to be in this at all? It's not called X-Men Origins X-Men. Emma too and Emma being revealed as Kayla's sister? WTF?

The old folks could have easily been the Hudsons...you didn't even need to explain their significance. Maybe you could even shown Heather later or something or have them in the second film without aluding to Alpha Flight or anything like that.

Xavier's appearence...again while interesting doesn't really play well in a Wolverine origin movie. I got the feelings too that he knew something more than he was letting on during the films.Also changing up a sec, I wonder why Rose wasn't shown in the 19th century scenes at the start of the film? She's a big part of who Wolverine is and seemingly something of a inside joke as to why Logan loves red heads so much.

Overall the worst of the X-Men movies, even The Last Stand is slightly better than Wolverine and that's saying a lot for me.

Actually, they were. We only hear the man's name as Travis in the movie. But in the credits, the only Travis listed is a Travis Hudson. And there on the next line is a credit for the role Heather Hudson, the name of the older woman who was shot serving breakfast. I tend to think that son they kept talking about was James MacDonald Hudson. A guy who now may have a beef with Logan since his presence got his parents killed and their farm blown up. So they already kind of did what you asked for there.

That's what happens when you have a script written by committee under executive supervision with the standing order; "we need to retains rights to as many characters as possible...fit them in." Fuckin' Fox.

After re-reading my post I'm surprised that they don't come out with a film called X-Men Origins X-Men. I read the other thread with regards to the interference and input from the execs. Doesn't surprise me.

Agreed. Even for all its shortcomings, X-Men: The Last Stand at least had a few real standout scenes, like when Phoenix kills Professor Xavier or when Wolverine kills Phoenix. Wolverine doesn't even have anything that big to resonate with.

I rented Wolverine on Blu-Ray the other day. I'm not sure I'd call it terrible, but there was nothing there that leaves any impact on me aside from a feeling of general boredom with the movie. There was no emotional impact at all.

I haven't read the comics much, and only know about the characters from the 90s cartoon series and the earlier X-Men movies. I was hoping to find out something interesting about the character. The scene where he got his adamantium was done much better in X2. Everything else that happened would have been better as a footnote.

I agree with most of the complaints about the elderly folks he meets, the lack of reaction to mutant abilities compared to the other X-Men movies that take place later on, the dialog was awful, action scenes were poorly done, and a couple of good actors went to waste. Plus, there were useless cameos.

As bad as the third X-Men movie was, there were still some decent scenes and I didn't mind getting it with the other two in the Blu-Ray trilogy set. Wolverine had nothing of interest. There's really no reason to ever watch it a second time.

Yeah I felt the same way, it was "okay" but nothing I would crow about and get all excited over. Which is sad, from the opening credits, it looked pretty badass. But...fell kinda flat.

I'm glad I only used a redbox to rent it. But it could have been so much better. My only hope is that Deadpool will be funnier and more 4th wall breaking. And that Fox doesn't get their greasy mitts all over it. Disney HELP! LOL Or rather MIRAMAX HELP! I could easily see Deadpool being like a Tarantino movie, loads of fake blood, lots of in jokes, lots of carnage, and hot chicks.
