With Shatner out of Trek 11...

Botany Bay

Will this make you more or less likely to watch it?

I must say I'm still pretty much a giddy schoolgirl at the thought of TOS on the big screen again, but having a Shat-cameo would have been the icing on the cake.

What do you guys think?

It would be fun to have the Shatner grace 11 with his haminess...however, unless Shatner is playing Kirk, it might be better not to see him at all.

Maybe they could arrange some time travelling and the elder Kirk could warn the young Kirk to raise his shields immediately whenever he sees the U.S.S. Reliant . (Khan!!!!!!!!)

Right, to answer your question...it doesn't matter...I'll watch the next Star Trek movie either way.

I'm going to watch this movie regardless, even if it blows. That said, I was really disappointed to hear that Shatner won't appear and even more so when I heard it was all down to Generations...

I would see it with the Shat, I would see it with a rat, I would see it eating green eggs and ham...

Until we get real info on the real movie.

No one can say they will or will not go to the Theater.

As of today, I'll just plan waiting for the DVD.

I'm just as likely to watch it. They can't have Shatner in any Treks anymore - regardless of whether we like it, Kirk died at a younger age than Shatner can play. For Nimoy to pass the torch is sufficient. I always liked Spock better than Kirk anyway. ;)

I suspect it will not hurt them at all. People watched all sorts of trek without shatner, so they are used to the idea.

Neither. My decision to avoid Trek 11 like the plague has nothing to do with Shatner's involvement or lack thereof.

If Shatner is out -- and I agree, almost anything could yet happen, and Nimoy's on-screen involvement is yet unclear -- I guess I sort of like that.

I guess I like a sort of closed TOS universe; the encounters with the TNG cast were not always entirely successful. So I wish the new film well, and I'm excited about it, as an _alternate_ TOS, and not part of my own personal Trek.

That is, if Shatner or Nimoy in it, it's real. Without them, I can take it all as make-believe (and yes, it's all make-believe anyway).

I'm looking forward to a TOS story that doesn't have to write around anyone's aging process. I'm very glad that the makers in this case seem fairly loving of TOS, albeit with some possible tweakings.

I gave up on the franchise, and would love another chance to love Trek again. If it doesn't work for me, no great loss, because it was dead to me already.

Well, as Nimoy said, "Remember Star Trek 7? YOU DIED!" So of course the Shat won't be in 11.

Shatner or Nimoy or any of the others won't make a damned bit of difference. I'm siill not bothering to see this.

"I'm not going to see it! Not not not! Bonk bonk on the head!"

It's just a movie. Don't see it, fine. But sometimes I wonder at this declaration that one's not going to see the movie, like it's some sort of bold, revolutionary statement statement. "I'll show you! I'm keeping my $8!"

ok...
