With dad deployed, have a chat with virtual dad

Hi all,

The Pentagon wants families of deployed to find solace in talks with virtual chat characters. They want a software that is easy to set up, somehow mimics dad, and can respond meaningfully to sentences like "I miss you."

This is truly bizarre. They are gearing this toward small children who (they believe) will not be able to tell the diffference between the simulation and the real thing - by using a combination of photos, video, and an Eliza-type intuitive responder. I'm just not sure if this is necessary, or morally correct. If Mom or Dad are out of contact, maybe that's the way it should be.
