Wireless tasers...

Surefire

HSV Technologies was working on a wireless taser device that uses lasers to conduct the electricity, rather than wires for several years now.

I've never heard of this device being ever deployed yet in a handheld taser that the police use.

Anyone know if this technology is still feasible/possible anytime soon?

Seems it would be an advantage to have a MULTI-SHOT less than lethal device on the markets. Current wired tasers typically only have 1 shot per cartridge, which leaves the victim as SOL if there are 2 attackers.

So it's basically a phaser, set to stun? Cool.

I think the company may have gone bankrupt or something, because I haven't heard any news on this taser in like 5 years.

It's a good concept for police though, a taser that can stun multiple suspects (wired tasers have only 1 shot).

Also take a look into the thread in Sci/Tech:

I read about the light-conducting tasers in the Sunday Times nearly 10 years ago (complete with stock picture of Data from Star Trek ). I've often wondered how much progress has been made there too.

You only read the article because of the Data photo, right? :D

Well it was from the days before his "Jowl Simulation Algorithm" was activated. ;)

Plus, who doesn't want their own personal raygun? Especially one where, as demonstrated at the end of this video, had several settings...
