WIP - USS Venture Star

Hey, Madman1701A - great work!

I'm curious about something, though. In the 3rd pic in the original post, there is an external object partially shown off the left side of the pic, and then in post 35, in the 1st pic, there's an egg shaped thing up above and/or ahead of the ship. What are those? Just other ships in the Starbase where you're building her that accidentally got in the shot, or what? ;)

Those are me being sloppy. :)

When I perform a Boolean operation, it keeps the original two objects that I used. When I'm sure it worked right, I drag them up and out of the way, then put them on a new layer. What you are seeing is the leftovers, that I forgot to move out of the way. :) I guess it can be considered space junk. :)

OK, I have a little texturing progress. Too much stuff to see on TV tonight. :)

I have so much stuff on this thing that is blue. I like it, if I ever become famous, maybe this could be from my "Blue Period" :)

I'm glad I learned how to apply 2 layers of textures. That spec map that you can see in the rear view is going to look cool in a flyby animation. :)

This is just so far beyond what i ever imagined when i started trying to get the Venture Star redesigned for the NuStar Trek coming out. I get goosebumps every time i look at what you've made. The old version a pretty ok model never even had the ships name on it. Just seeing the name on a ship like that makes me feel that my brother would be proud.

I just can't say thank you enough. :)

It's no problem. :)

When I do the windows this time, i actually plan to make each one slightly different, for a more realistic effect. In the past, they would normally have a cheesy white texture with blue lines. :)

OK, textures are done. :)

All I have left is a couple of light sources, then it is all the way done. :)

I learned a lot building this one. :)

One addition to the specs... I added a torpedo deck on the back end. It now has 6 tubes, total.

:)

Night, everyone.

This is a little off topic, but here is my "new" earth model for use in animations.

I think it looks OK, and it is SIMPLE. :) No multiple layers of textures or anything.

I actually did achieve the blue glow in the render, too. I didn't have to add it afterwards. :)
