WIP USS Mitchell

Kept the fenders...Was able to do the escape pods, and place some of them. Now, I am working more around the wing/engine side.

I also really like the lines of this ship: Defiant, Miranda and Jem'Hadar put together, as others have mentioned. I can see the back story being that the designers were able to incorporate technology from captured Dominion vessels.

I like was JES said about the naming and numbering. I got into a discussion about reusing names in another thread, so I agree that you should avoid the earlier name unless it was an especially significant ship.

I like the roll bar, it really gives a nice line to the ship. That darker squarish detail in you latest picture looks a little Star Destroyer, though. Does it have a particular function you are representing?

PhoenixClass, thanks. About the darker squarish...I assume you mean the grebble stuff. It is just to add details. I know that usually ST ships are more slick and doesn't have many grebble or nurnies objects, but I wanted to add some to an extend.

Work on panels on the wings. Modified the under shape of the engines so that it reminds a bit of the fender on the front.

Love those profile shots.

Seen from a wider view, the grebbling is more subtle and is a nice contrast. I will no longer mistake the Mitchell for a Star Destroyer!

I have done the shuttle bay. Basically it is an inset room with a force field that goes through one side to the other, with optionnal door. Add a couple of things too on top of the bay and on the side.

Done top of the shuttle bay, and change the color sheme a bit to include more the 3th color.

Work on the bottom part of the shuttle bay and also add a fender element for transition to the central part

I use 3dsMax. Sometimes I use Cinema 4D, it's easier if you are new to 3D. 3dsmax demands more time to learn.

Here are the series of images of the final ship. The last ones shows the added spots without any external lights with the ship name. I want to do a 4-5 minutes movie presentation, that why I also put the lights. It's also a mean to test my new video card and memory. I will probably do that later this week, because I don't want to loose my computer for 15 hours right now...

Finished project
This is a fictive Star Trek ship, USS Mitchell NX-74210. Inspired by DS9 USS Defiant style of star ship. Bigger then the Defiant, it can hold up to 125 crew members. It took around 4 months to do, in terms of hours…I didn’t count.
Credits should go to Thunorrad for the planet texture
