WIP USS Mitchell

I have begun a new work, so I don't get much time for 3d design. I tried to make the bottom part. I had to redo it 3 times to get the "array" (I don't recall the name) right, because 3dmax would crash. I had to switch to a 32 bits version in the end. Anyway I slightly modified the phaser too. The second image is with a real omni lights, it brings a bit more the good colours.

This looks fantastic! There are cues from the Defiant of course, but consciously or not there's a lot of Jem'Hadar attack ship in here too.

My suggestion would be to make the bridge more circular (or at least ovoid) as a more Starfleet-esque design cue, the existing structure is fine but IMO reminds too much of a Dominion design. But who knows? Could be intentional that way. :)

To answer the question the blue and red energy are animated textures, but you can't see it in a still render like that. It's kind of an electric animated texture (Hopefully I am not wrong about that, since it's the first time I am using it)

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I must say I had some good advices in another forum, but I also decided to: not be afraid to take my time, and redo what I don't like.
So, it's not false to say I have redone at least most parts 2-3 times...but now I get what I want more the first time, so...it's a process. LOL!

Done my own nurnies below the nose. Also added the pitch stabilizer (Black round thing, like the Defiant model in terms of shape and size). Took my an eternity fixing symmetry problems...I don't know if the model have moved but it was so long to fix. I also tried pre-made nurnies, but importing shapes was messy for some reason. I found a way for making tubes with the bend deformer...it's the one I understand better.

I would say it's more like a reinforcement plating. Originally it was the place where there was an observatory and a bar. They could still be there that way too. This actually what it look like in the actual model.

You should make them windows

The problem is that's a curve shape. It's not impossible to do windows but there will be a lot of texture breaking. Booleans windows works best in flat shapes. I did try directly on the model, and it was an ugly business...I prefer leaving it plain.

On the fender I could change some black area, to be black translucent windows. I could also try to shape them...Even then I see texture breaking on that shape right now. So I will try on the fender if it works better. (I say fender for a lack of a better word)

I understand, either way I really like the 'fenders' and I would like to see you keep them.
