WIP - TMP Enterprise, deck by deck

Had a quick look at the D plans on Google - hilariously cool. I'll have a closer look later.
 
Ok. The major work project over the big hurdle, the taxes are done, and finally I can start getting back to this project this week! (until the NEXT crisis)

The hatches near the rim are air lock hatches. The numerous inner hatches are, according to Andy Probert, lifeboat hatches. There were also supposed to be lifeboat hatches on the secondary hull but he neglected to put those on.

Well I've finished trawling through the plans of the ship using Strategic's plans as a decent guide. I somehow managed to end up with the right number of crew, although most of them might end up being engineering technicians and I still think my science teams need a bit of work. I did notice that there doesn't appear to be any areas set aside for the executive branch (no personnel offices, records office, or legal office), I can't work out where the Quartermaster's Office should be, and I bunged the Operations Officer in the Power Distribution Room, because that's where he could carry out functions similar to Ops in TNG, but it doesn't feel quite right to have him way down in the bowels of the ship. I stuck with 3 8-hour shifts and proceeded on the assumption that the labs wouldn't ordinarily be running 24-7. Damage Control crews are manned on a rota so off duty personnel move to designated assembly areas to form thier teams when General Quarters is sounded. Similarly, it seems to me that you only need one functional manned transporter in each hull ordinarily. Additional chiefs would head to other units when General Quarters sounds.

I re-named it the Sports Alley just in case they wanted to try curling, darts, or skittles instead! ;)

It's quite tough to work out what things CTM has changed without seeing the 3D plans in the same 2D format as SD though. I think a couple fewer officer lounges to make some room for the bureaucratic wing makes sense. Giving the Computer Officer an office might be nice too, maybe in the Communications Bay near the main memory banks. Strategic comes up short on labs unless you count the communications bay, sickbay lab, and sensor bay (just one short then - maybe the Bowling Alley counts?)
 
I was looking at the Polar Lights 1:350 scale model online today. It looks awesome, but at three feet long I think I'd need to buy a bigger house. Once this refit project is completed and I've decided where on the ship I'm going to assign my crew, I'm going to create some cutom TMP crew figures using Citadel miniatures by swapping out some alien heads, paint my miniatures and create a Rec-Deck scene. Then my work will be done :)
 
This Enterprise has always been my favorite Enterprise and this is some great work too.

I'm going to be working on making a Enterprise map for half life 2 team deathmatch with access to every part of the ship.

I'm hoping to do textures as well.

Wow - I don't own it I'd buy the game just to see that :bolian:
 
I'm waiting to the deck plans from strategic design before i start the project.

currently I'm finishing up on a SeaQuest map I am making and tinkering with an Enterprise D map that has every area accessible. All i can say is, after having deck1 (bridge) and deck2 done then testing them I realized that when i finish the whole ship even if 100 people play on the map no one will ever find each other unless they all filter to the key places like engineering. The other thing about the Enterprise D map is the main shuttle bay (the one down and behind the bridge) It's huge and i can't wait to make it, which i'll be starting on soon.

I'll post some pictures soon of the work with the SeaQuest maps and the Enterprise D. I'm having computer issues so the pictures might just be from early stages of the work. here is a taste.

Once again i'll work on geting at least the deck 2 picture i have of the Enterprise D.
 
Predictably, I've been swamped yet again, most of my free time going towards prep for a presentation at Maker Faire NC http://makerfairenc.com/ this weekend (RC Warship stuff). I haven't had much time for this TMP project, it keeps taunting me, but I can't seem to get TO it. Maybe next week (If I only had a $ for every time I said that...)

I know that I'm looking forward to when you are able to get back to it. What you've done so far is incredible. This is one of my favorite threads.
