WIP Enterprise Protostar

Still working on this. Just not very fast. Tell me what you think of this main texture. There will be a black texture to, basically this texture darken. I decided to put back the electronic design over the Aztec's one.

I don't get the circuit board pattern. It's obvious what it is, and no apparent need for delicate electronics to be on the outside of the ship.

I though that a nanite repair surface could need a kind of a road on the surface. It could be done another way too. You make me think, I didn't take this into account. The nanite a supposed to be into the interstice of the panels. They would forms patterns and road, a bit more organic between them. I will flush the electronics and redo this instead. I would like a more chaotic, web like linings.

Here we go. The texture is more organic in a manner, because the nanites would cross link over the corners and form curves road...a bit like a web over the panels.

And this is the transition between the normal texture to the luminous overlay, with a normal lighting.

That's looking more interesting. Can't wait to see what you develop this into.

But I'm LOVING the engines you've got!

Fast post again. Tried doing the singularity as a post effect, added the energy texture.

I think it looks better on the parts of the hull that are brightest. The effect should be a subtle one, I think.

Ray section textures. Gonna begin working on each section now. The texturing was to give me a direction in colors, and object placement (Like pods and some windows for instance)

Added a second color on the saucer. Kind of a grey-blue mix into a modified main texture. I made the bottom hull section the same texture like the rest of the ship instead of marine blue. The phaser are a blue sky with high reflectivity+luminosity (Not seen on those pictures). So, next move it to make section by section: top saucer first.

If you see the engine sometimes shines or not, it's because the render is done with a video post effect (It takes longer). Often used to do suns in 3dsmax, the only way I figured how to make something shine that much without using Vray. Anyway I finished the top saucer area, gonna do the bottom saucer now...

Thanks for the kind words.

I tried to do some piping stuff. I feel completely inapt at it. Something very basic...

Honestly, I think the darker sections of the hull are too dark and too shiny. They're making it look like plastic, at least to me. But the over all design is excellent!
