William Shatner talks new Star Trek, Abrams, Chris Pine
The 78-year-old former Captain James T. Kirk says that although he and J.J. had a back-and-forth dialogue via the Internet and video interviews about why he wasn't asked to participate, they never spoke directly about it. "It became funny," says Shatner. "I called him several weeks ago and we laughed about it. And he came to [my] horse show."
And asked for any advice for Chris Pine, the 28-year-old actor stepping into the role of Kirk, Shatner says, "Look how rugged he is. Look how neat that jaw line is. Does he get the girl? … Chris, I know nothing. If I could help, I would. Do it on your own, it's uniquely yours. If it's successful, it will definitely change everything for [your career]."
