Yep. If thre's something they want Shatner to do I'll take it! The anniversary is still over a year awayAnd yes, I still want to see it. (one last return.)
Although, I don't want it to mess up Unification.
ARGH. lol.
A lot of planets have an Ireland. It’s cool if people liked the Laris character. To me, she just came off as an Irish lady cosplaying as a Romulan.
While I like Beverly a lot more than you do, yeah, Laris is great.Laris was awesome (IMO). There was a depth and thoughtfulness to her that was reveled in such a short time compared to Beverly, whom I always found very wooden and unapproachable for decades - bad traits to have for a doctor.
Well, after all, she was an Irish lady cosplaying as a Romulan. It’s cool if people liked the Laris character. To me, she just came off as an Irish lady cosplaying as a Romulan.

Romulans have never been the most alien of Trek Aliens. No real hook there. Not quite. She was an Irish actor hired to play the part of an alien. And for some reason, either she or the scriptwriter decided to have her play the part as if she was just being herself and wearing fake ears.
It is acting if it's your normal accent? I'm sure a lot Trek aliens speak with the accents of their North American portrayers. Just as a lot of Doctor Who aliens speak with British accents. IIRC, France Nuyen used her natural accent as Elaan, but none of the other Elasians had that accent. I think David Warner used his natural British accent for Gorkon.I don't recall them ever acting like humans from a specific region of the Earth.
