William Petersen is leaving CSI, along with the other two recent departures.

I'm only going by what the article says. They've just lost Jorja Fox and Gary Dourdan too.

The ratings are too good to cancel the show, however.

It would be a shame if they cancelled CSI and not CSI:NY and the abominable CSI:Miami though.

I believe I am correct in thinking that CSI: Miami is still the world's most popular television show, so I don't really see it being canceled.

I'd be amazed if the show survives past this. They'd have to bring on a really strong new group of characters. I admit this is possible, but unlikely given TV history. Even with occasional guest appearances, the character defines that show in a lot of ways. I wonder if they'll just write him as being "away" and things like that similar to what happened with John Goodman and "Roseanne".

Yeah I'm kind of feeling that way too. There's something about his character that seems so unique and different than what we normally see on TV.

You're exactly right and I also don't think it can survive. But as someone said upthread, it's had a good run. It's probably time.

Eh. I like the original, tease a friend for her undying devotion to CSI:NY and I enjoy making fun of CSI:Miami.

im not too surprised either, and if im honest im starting to worry a little bit about this show, I hope the new characters really fit in, because otherwise it might not last more than two more seasons.
