William Petersen Leaves CSI

I could see Malkovich quirky enough to replace (at least partially) Petersen in Vegas. He has eccentricities galore in most of the characters he plays, including himself...

Still, Petersen will be missed. He's definitely one of the reasons why I like the original CSI over CSI:Miami.

Maybe I'm naive, but imo the quality of the writing is more important than the lead actor. I was fond of Grissom too, but is he really that important for the show?

Not just the writing, but the characters. It doesn't matter if the writing is an absolute master-piece, if I don't give a rat's ass about the characters, I don't care for the show. And right now, all the characters I was fond of are buggering out.
