Will you be having the Swine Flu shot

I had to vote "Other" I have H1N1 right now, I'm on my 4th day of 100+ fever. GET THE SHOT. FOR GOD'S SAKE PEOPLE, GET THE SHOT!!!!!!

No. Media hype has fueled a certain hysterical belief that Swine Flu is actually a huge deal. Headlines such as "Swine Flu to Impact 50% of Pop" have been scaring people into buying newspapers, and people are going crazy over the phenomenon; and yet, statistics show that this flu is not any more deadly than regular flu. The outbreak(s) of it have not even come close to producing the number deaths already caused by standard strains. I don't buy the hype.

Seriously? People are buying newspapers because of H1N1? That seems unlikely. At any rate, since "regular flu" is quite deadly on its own, it seems wise to take this seriously as well. I'll be getting the shot soon. It's not about hype; it's about my health as well as the health of the people in my community.

Yes, there was a death last week here in Chicagoland -- a high schooler a couple towns over, but from what I understand, he or she was already quite ill. The death wasn't from H1N1 alone.

No, I won't be getting this shot, nor will I allow it to be given to my children. I am very wary of the lack of testing that has been done for this vaccine. We are taking extra precautions in the germ-killing department, though.

I'm not having it. I've already had swine flu and, for me, it was just a runny nose and sore throat, Nothing major, and I'm terrified of needles/injections so I steer clear unless It's neccesary

For those who want facts, the Center for Disease control (USA)has a lot of information.

I wasn't paying complete attention last night when there was a report on 60 minutes but I thought I heard that suscptibility to pneumonia is a more common complication than with most other strains of influenza.

Keep in mind that it takes a few weeks for the flu shot to be most effective so changing your mind once lots of people around you are sick may not do much good.

One of the first questions I was asked before I was given the flu shot was "Are you feeling sick at the moment?".

If you're already sick, and they give you a flu shot, all they're going to do is make you even more sick. Bad plan.

You two, it's safe better than sorry. I'm getting two shots this year, end of discussion! I can't afford to get myself sick with this swine flu!

If you're already sick, getting a flu shot is NOT safe. That's the point.

I have never had a flu shot (maybe when I was very little, I don't know), and I haven't had the flu in at least 10 years. I'm not worried about it.

My doctor once told me that most people only get the flu once every 10 years. Quite often people who say that they have or have had the flu really only had a bad cold.

I have been having the flu vaciination for about 16 years. My asthma fets seriously bad when I have a cold, I am not going to risk the flu.

Last time I had a flu shot was more than two years ago and never got sick at all. How is that it's not safe to getting a flu shot? Not that I'm arguing here with you, I want to get a better understanding why you're telling me that flu shot is not safe.

Most of the time when I get flu shots, I'm fine---no reaction. Last year, I had a minor case of sniffles when I got it. After the shot, those sniffles escalated into a 48-hour fever.

The shot may contain dead virus, but it temporarily weakens your immune system anyway since it's busy producing antibodies. This allows any pre-existing virus or bacteria to affect you more severely.

If you're feeling even slightly sick, hold off on the vaccine until you're well again.

I used to get it every once in a while when I was a kid. Fever and vomit are the sure signs for me. If I don't have those things, it ain't the flu.

My disease of choice is strep throat, but it hasn't been an issue since I got my tonsils removed 6 years ago. My tonsilectomy was the best thing I ever did (I mean, I was going to die if I didn't get it done, but still).
