Many times.

But that's the problem with DVD releases. Sometimes they're so close to when the movie is just out of the theater, you wait for the DVD instead of supporting the box office count of the movie

Will definitely see it in the theater, but probably not until a few days after opening, due to some conflicting travel plans.

I can't really vote because I honestly don't know at this point in time. Earlier, I would have said absolutely I would go. But today, after hearing stuff, in some cases direct from Abrams, I'm less and less enthused about it. Just this week after seeing the trailer and participating in discussions here, I kind of had this moment where I realized it was time for me to let go of TOS and let the new Trek pass on to a new generation of fans. Trek as I knew it, is gone for ever.

But I also have a strong sense of curiousity that will make it hard for me to not go. And how can I pass up a chance to see Nimoy as Spock one more time (and presumably the last time)? And I'm hearing good things about Urban and Pegg that piques my interest too.

I also am completely undecided. I like Trek, but I don't like Hollywood blockbusters and that's what the trailer appears to be pitching this as...hopefully we'll get more trailers that tell us something concrete about the story and are more compelling.

Part two of my unscientific polling to see where the majority stands.

It doesn't matter if you'll be watching it the midnight before opening night, opening day/night, the day/night after or the week after. Just that you'll be watching it in the theatre during its run. No explanation needed, as before, but more than welcome to post. :)
You need more choices...

For instance, I'm not gonna pay "full price" to see it. I'll catch a matinée.

Some folks might wait 'til it hits the "dollar theater."

Some will be lined up the first night... camped out on the steps... arguing about whether or not Darth Nero could kick Nurse Jar-Jar's ass...

Some will wait a few days 'til the reviews are out and THEN decide.

Yes or No.
It's not that hard.
Come on even you could keep a post under two sentences.

I haven't been this excited about a Star Trek film for soooo long. I hope to see it as soon as possible after it is released

Yes. I very much look forward to my first screening of this film as a theater-going experience. I want to be there for all the cheers, and jeers if applicable.

This is one of those films that I really want to see on the big screen. It's the type of visual experience that I'm not going to get watching it on my TV at home (no super fancy digital surround sound HDTV set up for me until I strike it rich). I also love the thrill of seeing a movie opening day with a big, (hopefully) receptive crowd. And popcorn! :)

YES. I. WILL.

When I was primarily a TNG fan from 1987-1994, I missed seeing both Star Trek V and Star Trek VI in theaters.

I especially regretted not watching Star Trek VI in theaters, with my two 13 year old friends (I was 16 at the time.) insisting on seeing that forgettable Christian Slater film "Kuffs," instead.

That, and not watching "Braveheart" and "Heat" are 3 decisions I regret in terms of missing seeing films in the theaters that should be seen in the theaters first.

After that, I told myself "Never again."

Which is why I have seen the 4 TNG feature films in the theaters, and will definitely be seeing this new film on the big screen on May 8th, 2009.

No, and I mean no one and nothing on this Earth is going to prevent me from watching this film on opening night.
