Will we ever see any Voyager characters again?

There was a chance in the beginning of the century for movies and such. But when they first decided to go ahead with a retro series (Enterprise) and then spent too many years with screwing up established Trek history in the latest NuTrekmovies, every chance was gone.

I think there's some truth in this.

My understanding is that it was actually even an idea that was being kicked around post-NEMESIS, with certain members of the TNG cast having been effectively priced out of negotiations by then, that they could maybe cherry-pick a few different cast members from each of the shows, and doing a crossover movie as a cheaper option for keeping the overall film series going now that Stewart and Spiner were getting too expensive to employ on a regular basis.

But I can't say whether, relatively, it would've actually been any good. :D ;)

NEMESIS and ENTERPRISE's low critical reaction sounded the death knell for anything along these lines.

I was hoping for such a movie for many years. But it never happened. Now it's too late.

To this day, I have never understood why those in charge abandoned the 24th century. I mean, they had created a fantastic universe with lot of interesting species, a lot of interesting characters and a lot of interesting plots and loose threads which could have been followed up in both series and movies.

And what did they do? They wasted it all for a lame retro series where they only managed to screw up established Trek history.

And now they are messing around with a retro movie project in which they screw up and destroy established Trek history even more?

Are they deliberately trying to kill the whole thing?

The universe is still there. They neatly dislodged themselves from under a metric shit ton of canon so that while it's the same universe you can use familiar characters without their entire careers and deaths being written in stone. Though the current iteration of Trek is set in the TOS era there is no reason someone won't come along and set some more Trek in the 24th century.

I would be completely happy to never see any of the familiar characters again but I think it far more likely that we will. It just makes sense to have a hook for the audience to bring in a familiar character or setting and this being Trek where we got Scotty back in TNG there are endless scenarios where we could see anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Kate Mulgrew is really shining in Orange and has said she would do Trek if asked (this was in an interview about the movies). No reason we wouldn't see Admiral Janeway older and grittier in the future.

No they are never putting the band back together the way some people want it, but I bet there will be some surprises in store for Trek fans still.

I imagine the rumoured "Justice League of Trek" movie would have turned out like this, but with more Janeway and Seven:

Some of that would need more explanation to not feel contrived, but dang...for a stitched together video and a fan idea, it's pretty darn good. I'd watch! But I must admit, after the "BRING...BACK...KIRK" text, I was thinking to myself "IT'S...TOO...LATE!" At least it's too late for some of that.

But hey, wouldn't it be cool if they do bring Kirk Prime back in ST13, if they could pull off a McCoy Prime hologram? Having the big three back together. That would be amazing.

The USS Relativity fixed the universe the minute they felt the time ripple, they just preserve defunct timelines as holodeck programs. The entirety of the AbramsVerse takes place in a 29th century holodeck. ;)

The Abrams 29th century time ships went to war with he Bermanian Time Ships.

The winner of that war gets to decide what the future looked like.

This happens EVERYTIME the time line gets nudged.

I'm thinking maybe The Alternative Factor was a prophetic picture of the future of Trek with Berman and Abrams locked in a black and white time war of Guy Gardener's deduction. Forever and ever amen.

Plus it's the era of nostalgia for old tv shows. So that's what they went for. If it wasn't for TOS, if it had all started at TNG we'd have gotten nothing.

I think they just wanted to use Kirk and Spock but didn't want to force the writers or the audience to remember details.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't mind how the actors age. I mean even an aging Data can easily be solved with a line "Oh look Data's experimenting with a new physical aging technology to be more human." Beltran looks even more bad ass at this point.

Renegades does look pretty sweet, interesting cast with Sean Young and Edward Furlong. And directed by Tim Russ, wow.

Yowsa! But can Grant Imahara actually act? He's in the main cast list, but I would assume he only had a cameo role.

EDIT: Just saw the trailer :(

Some people might think they are too grey now, that they were more interesting in the before.

But the soon-after will show if that's correct. ;)

Grant plays Sulu in the Star Trek Continues TOS fan film series. IIRC, he plays Chekov's aide in Renegades.

Just wondering if you think we will ever see any of the VOY characters in any form again - whether it's TV cameo or in a movie or anything. Even if it's just a cameo when they're really old like Scotty in Relics. Do you think there's any chance?

Probably not. I mean, unless you count the low budget films like Renegades. Unless one of the actors makes a cameo in the 3rd new film coming out. We saw Kate as Janeway in Nemesis and to me that was some sort of nod to the series, but other than that probably not?

There are still new novels coming out though so we can still get some Voyager from those!

"Living Witness" Evil Janeway whips her crew into shape.

I'll tell you what I think: The 'warship Voyager' depicted in that episode was actually real. It was from a version of the Mirror universe where the Empire still existed. Hell, the entire episode might have been set in that universe. Go ahead, prove me wrong.

Did you like Of Gods and Men, that they did a couple years back?

Oh hell yeah! Apart from the sheer hilarity of watching Alan Ruck try to act 'evil', it was great.

And no, the Abramsverse was not intended to 'kill' the regular version. Just to exist alongside it. We all know this. Nothing was overwritten.

It would be pretty hilarious if Voyager was screwed over and blamed because of stuff MU Voyager did
