Will Voyager ever make it to Blu-Ray or HD?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
hey guys, i just saw a trailer for TNG on 1080p Blu-Ray and it looks amazing.

does anyone know if Voyager will make it to HD of some kind? i've heard the Voyager CGI looks really terrible when it's given the HD treatment. is this true?

I haven't heard any direct information about Voyager going to Blu-Ray, but I think it is something people would like to see. Although considering that they're just putting TNG into HD now I would think that they would first put DS9 into Blu-Ray and then Voyager.

As for CGI, I really have no idea about that.:shrug:My only guess there would be that it depends on whatever technology was used to create said CGI in the first place. It could be a compatability problem or something else.

I think it eventually will make it to HD, simply because it makes sense in the long term. But it's probably not going to happen for a good, long while. Both ENT and DS9 will likely get the Blu-ray/HD treatment before VOY will; ENT because it's already in HD, and DS9 because it wouldn't require as much work as VOY would.

I think one of the issues with the CGI in VOY/DSN is that it was rendered for SD and not HD. With TNG and eary season of DSN they used model work which would have been shot on film and as such have HD resoution already there.

They'd have to redo all the CG, which would be expensive. But, if Next Gen HD makes enough money, I'm sure they'll want more HD Trek to make money off of.

Although, Enterprise was shot in HD (with CG and makeup quality to match), and all it needs is a release on Bluray. Which they haven't done...

I'm sure they'll do HD Voyager at some point, but I doubt it'll make it to Blu-ray as the format's very likely already passed the half way point in its life cycle.

Voyager will probably get a cheap and nasty conversion to Bluray as an afterthought when the other shows have all been done.

It'll be OK but not worth redoing the CGI - it's the least popular of the shows shot in standard def.

I'd really get a mod note if I described how I 'found' the money to buy the DVD Box sets.

Either Contract Killing or prostitution most probably.

Prostitution is legal in New Zealand.

Which takes all the humour out of it completely.

You know, since it's plausible and possible and they are no legal barriers.

Doctors can legally write prescription scripts for blowjobs to sufferers of chronic depression.

It's a marvellous country.
