Will TOS maintain its legendary status as Trek fandom gets younger?

Probably not as a production — but the idea of “Kirk & Spock etc” will probably stick around in the same way that the idea of Superman or Batman has, irrespective of any particular story or production about then.

She's read some of the novels and we're sharing recommendations for fanfiction (just read a really good one about Spock being supportive when McCoy starts doubting his effectiveness at being able to balance his Hippocratic Oath with some of Starfleet's decisions that make that oath difficult to keep).

Oooo…do tell. What is the story?

TOS was considered to be incredibly cheesy and dated back when I became a fan in the 90s, so I'm not sure the perception of it could have changed much in the meantime.
I think the extra 30 years has mostly aged it in a good way (it's so retro that it adds to the vibe), with the notable exception to some of the 60's sexual politics which can code pretty darkly now.

Also, gotta check out THE PRISONER from the UK. There should still be some legal for free episodes on YouTube and JustWatch shows streaming services with it.

The fact that the new Star Trek movies are about TOS with the same crew and Discovery and SNW include characters and elements of TOS helps to maintain its legendary status of course.
And in Picard we meet him and Seven Of Nine. It's not a bad thing at all but I also would like to see new Trek with new characters and playing in the Star Trek future. I guess we need creators and writers with new, fresh ideas and more fantasy, not just fan service. TNG, DS9, Voyager and ENT all came up with a brand new cast and it was working.
Personally I grew up with the TOS, so it will always be legendary for me.
