Will they get number one right?

put a pen on a sheet of paper. draw a short straight line begining from the highest point of the line down to the lowest point. here, now you've got the numer one right. it's not that hard. even Kurtzman can do it

Except that those materials are not really consistent with each other. We've basically had fifty years of different people extrapolating from her brief appearance in "The Cage," but none of that is remotely definitive, including my own books. :)

I was just kinda pissing in the punch there. As long as they don't have her running around outwardly emotionally gushy, especially towards Pike, I'm sure I'll be fine.

She keeps that inside along with her fantasies about him

Number One was barely portrayed in "The Cage". She was given nothing in the way of character development. So however DSC decides to handle her, it won't deviate from anything we've been told about her - because we haven't been told ANYTHING about her.

"Blank slate" really is an accurate description of Number One.

As long as she handles every problem by setting a phaser to overload and saying "It's wrong to do X to people", I'll be convinced they got her character right.

Gee, I forgot about that scene. No wonder Spock ended up in a psychiatric ward and is trying to run away, having to deal with a commanding officer like that.

I always figured "Time computation with Number One" would have been a regular thing had the series continued from "The Cage."

I would say that so far they have gotten the character right.

Indeed, it's obviously Pike they are getting wrong. "Try to have some fun along the way?" He should be agonizing over Lieutenant Connolly's death, the way he did over that Rigel mission, and griping to Dr. Boyce for the billionth time about how he really wants to be an Orion slaver.

If TOS had continued with that kind of attitude, it would have died a quick death. No one wants an insufferably depressing lead for years.

Nah, he didn't like Connolly as much as he liked his old yeoman.

Well... I once had a new boss who gave us this speech with lip service about how we should be having fun doing our job, but then turned out to be the most uptight, joyless, bossy and disrespectful person to work for. We were definitely not "having fun."

Batman is not the Captain of the Starship Enterprise.

But that would be awesome.
Have you ever read 'Tower of Babel'? Batman has detailed plans on how to disable each member of the Justice League in case they went bad.

So... Captain Bruce Wayne would have a contingency plan to take down every crew member. A Ba'ul ship he will send after Saru, video of Klingons killing people to trigger the trauma of Burnham's parents being killed, Culber music to break Stamets down emotionally, and May holograms to disable Tilly. And a hamburger to use on Number One.

Years of fighting Clayfaces (yes the comic franchise has more than one) are also good preparation in fighting Dominion Founders.
