Will there be Redshirts

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
This is both a Star Trek film and a JJ Abrams film which are both known for there unfortunate background extras so saying that how many Redshirts do you think we'll have in the movie?

They've already confirmed that one of the people sky diving is a redshirt.

Would it really be Star Trek without the obvious impending doom of an unknown crew member in a red shirt?

Anyone read that interview with Orci where he completely fucked up that thing from Chain of Command about the four lights? This shows he has no knowledge of Star Trek, therefore he'll probably present Red Shirts as integral crew members who are remarkably resilient and the few times one of them dies, everyone mourns it.

If only....
It would be nice if this was one of the things that they actually rebooted/reimagined/rewhatever and we got smart and capable security people for once.

You mean like Enterprise.

Agreed.

And this argument is as lame as the "0's"

To present as proof someone "has no knowledge of Star Trek", the fact he forgot how many lights were lit up in one of hundreds of TNG episodes is ridiculous and borderline childish.

No, actually I think you'll find competant Red Shirts is a betrayal of the very values Trek was founded upon. An attack on Trek's very soul. And rape of all our childhoods. This would be the biggest violation of continuity and canon. Yes, this would be more serious than the whole zero thing. This would be sound reason for boycotting the movie and put Abrams and Cohorts on trial for crimes against Roddenberry.

At least Berman and Braga knew the true purpose of a Red Shirt.

Well said kind sir.... I stand corrected.
Well said :D

They should definately include a scene where Kirk, Spock and Bones beam down to a planet....with Yeoman Jenkins.

Um which is why they decided that it didn't matter what color their uniform was when they died (There were no redshirts in B&B's trek, anyone could die. The term redshirt was thought up was because of the predicatble way anyone in a redshirt other than Scotty, was dead meat when they went on an away mission. It had nothing to do with the characters competence.. And roddenberry was the one who changed it. Infact having a very prominent character from the core crew dying in "Skin of Evil" in TNG.. So that sorta shoots holes in that Wormhole.

RIP Tasha Yar we hardly knew ye.

HRH...

Yoemen Leeeeroooyyy Jeeeeennnkiiinnns?? Well at least he had chicken.

^^ let us all revel in the shortcomings of 60s television instead of portraying an accurate portrait of the future where competent people (besides the main cast) are working starships

BRING ME THE HEAD OF ENSIGN RICKY!!!!

Look, in space, no one can hear the Redshirt scream. Asking "will there be Redshirts" is like asking "will there be Dead People"?

Someone's got to Buy the Farm, and it won't be Scotty, 'cause the actor who pays him ain't gettin' paid Scale.

Landing party. Thank goodness Star Trek didn't use that retarded term, which made it sound like on Friday nights they would all board a yellow bus to travel to some city league rival team's high school.

This is supposed to be a Trek that is bigger and better than any Trek we have ever seen. Accordingly, I'm counting on at least 7 redshirts dying on screen.
