Will there be Cardassians in the new show?

There may be a Cardassian or two (depending on the time frame) but it certainly won't be Garak. Besides, isn't Andrew Robinson retired from acting anyway?

Last I heard Andrew Robinson has pretty much retired from acting yes, could be wrong of course though. I doubt Garak will even be referenced in the new show to be honest. I do think there'll be Cardassians involved in the show, well I'd assume they would be.

How can you assume anything? Until you know what universe/timeframe it's in, anything is possible. Cardassians were great on DS9, but in terms of general public awareness, they're behind Klingon, Romulan, Vulcan, and Borg and probably roughly even with Ferengi. Factor in that Fuller will probably want to create his own alien(s) for the show and you'll need to get pretty deep into canon minutia before Cardassians come up. Unless the show is set around Bajor/Cardassia canon porn is really the only reason they'd be included.

Hmmm...I am with Terok on thus one, plus, I do not remember Kimmy or Courtney or Publicity or any of the rest of the Kardashians in any of the Star Trek iterations. Were they in "Miri" as kids? Or, perhaps as Keepers of the Hor-Gone on Riza? Perhaps some of the Bounciful Inhabitants in "Justice"?

Seriously, though, I thought the Cardassians were a very interesting race, and worthy antagonists. I wonder if the current cast is a little to young (looking) and "new" in their positions for an encounter?

I doubt it. But it wouldn't be continuity porn if they are included. They were established as a major alien race in both TNG and DS9. True continuity porn would be including a race like the Breen - established as a fairly important Alpha Quadrant power toward the end of DS9 but with very few actual appearances.

I always thought that the klingons were overused. I mean,they had far more storylines than the Romulans,the Vulcans and the Borg in total.

One less reason to pay 6 dollars a month for it.

If the show is set post-DS9 I'd like to see the Cardassians as an ally of the Federation much as the Klingons (more or less) became an ally in TNG.

That said, DS9 and other novels have covered this enough that perhaps it would feel like a retread.

It wouldn't be continuity porn if even the most minor element from any previous Trek appears.... IF it appears in the natural course of telling a good story. And having the Borg, Klingons, Romulans, etc show up could be continuity porn or fan service if they don't fit the story and are only there because the showrunners wanted to "provide continuity" or because they're "a fan favorite".

IMO, it's continuity porn if the whole point is to focus on the minutiae of pre-existing "cannnnnnnnnnnon" and to explain something that was mentioned in some Trek show twenty years ago, rather than making a solid, compelling story that stands strongly on its own merits without requiring an encyclopedic knowledge of the franchise just to know what's going on.

But what if the show starts right after the Dominion War? I hope it won't,but if it does,they need to explain

You might get a reference like in Trek 09, but that's as far as I forsee that ever going.
