Star Trek needs to be sold to Disney. They'd treat it better.
Meaning what exactly?Star Trek needs to be sold to Disney. They'd treat it better.

Which Disney network shows Doctor Who?I think they'd to some better promational work. They chose to have Dr. Who on one of their networks--a willingness to work with outsiders...that sort of thing.
Better merch, maybe. At this point it seems my hopes for plushies of Jaylah and Krall are doomed.Better promotional work? Beyond has had one of the best marketing campaigns I've seen for any film in years.
Don't put too much stock in "plans underway for a sequel" news. That is standard operating procedure these days for almost all tentpole productions. Terminator, Pacific Rim, ID:R, Green Lantern, Fantastic Four, Jack Ryan, etc, have sequel machinery in the works even before it is known if a movie will be successful or not so they can turn around a sequel faster (striking when the iron is still hot). Usually they are just cancelled after the fact if studios choose not to proceed.
There is nothing making me doubt that Star Trek Beyond will get a sequel. Paramount and their financing partners understand this is a property with a box office top end. I doubt they would've spent $200 million dollars if they didn't have faith that they would recoup their investment and make a healthy profit.
