Will the SCE characters ever reappear?

Caleuche

Commander
Red Shirt
I was wondering, since that SCE is no more, if there were any plans for any of the characters to appear in any upcoming book as either cameos or as full time characters. Its just it seems a shame for characters like Corsi and Tev to disappear, especially when following Before Dishonour there are positions free in the Enterprise crew.

What positions are those? At the end of the book, Picard insanely decided to retain the backstabbing sycophants. Hell, it's not even clear if that obstructionist counselor finally got the boot.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I'm sure they'll be back, but to shoehorn them into another series is doing them a disservice, as it has been for other characters.

If I get the phone I'm hoping for, I will be able to read eBooks on it and will get the entire CoE series. The more people that buy them, the higher likelihood there is of them being brought back.

Besides, they get a mention in Articles of the Federation so we know they're still flying around fixing the galaxy 3-4 years after the last story.

The book seems to clearly ditch the Counselor. I have to admit the rest is wishful thinking! I would much rather see Corsi at Tactical, then Leybenzon. I see no way that character can be saved, he was crossing too many lines by the end of the book, and given the TNG relaunch has already rid itself of one security chief, there no reason to suspect it won't again. I don't remember anyone at Conn. Plus aren't we heading for a series of David Mack books? There's got to be free positions after on all crews after that!

This is why it's best to get the e-books, break the DRM and just rewrite the bits you don't like.

"Mr. Worf - space those muthafuckers"

(Hey it's not very Picard like but I don't claim I'm not a hack!)

It's not clear that T'Lana remains aboard the Enterprise. What is known is that she requests a transfer, and that Jellico doesn't want her to leave in order to have someone to watch over Picard and his crew-which sounds an awful lot like a repeat of what McAteer does in the Stargazer novels. T'Lana threatens to resign her commission if her transfer isn't granted, and that's about where it ends. (It doesn't exactly sound very logical for a Vulcan to threaten resignation just because of a lack of transfer, and T'Lana had acted less of a Vulcan all during her characterizations especially in Before Dishonor, but PAD generally pushes the envelope as far as he can).

Conn/Security had Sara 'Mary Sue' Nave, who died in Resistance.

Frak, now I need some antacid tablets...

^ Given that those buffoons nearly caused the death of billions (and possibly more, if the 'new' Borg had moved on to attack the rest of the Federation), I think even Picard would have been entitled to some profanity. He sits them down, explains to them he understands where they came from and thought they had good intentions (well, not Leybenzon, but whatever), then explains to them, calmly, why he can't have them serving with him anymore after such an egregious betreyal. Hands steepled above the desk, he asks them: "Do you understand". They nod. "Good," Picard says, "Now get the hell off my ship."

and then he says "Mr Worf..." :techman:

No, actually it goes one word farther than that: "Fine." Which is Jellico's response when told that she's going to resign if she doesn't get a transfer. That pretty much settles it: either way, she's leaving the Enterprise.

^ Good, then. Since you've written the following book, we'll take that as the definitive interpretration. :)

Certainly not, but that would have been hard anyway since J.M. Dillard wrote Resistance. ;)

But of course. :o

But I don't necessarily find myself thinking of her being JM Dillard either. The character reminded me more of Vasquez from "Aliens".

I've seen Ms Dillard interviewed and if there was ever a Dillard "Mary Sue" character it was more likely to be the main alien character in "Demons". (Actually, Dillard's husband reckons the artist used a photo of Jeanne for reference.)

To answer the original question, the S.C.E. characters haven't been forgotten, let's put it that way. :D

So heres hoping for a new counselor and conn officer next book then!

Good, thats all I need to know, no matter how cryptic!:)

So, if T'Lana's leaving the Enterprise, does that mean she's gone for good? Out of the new characters created for the TNGR I thought she was the one being set up for long-term status, with a possible relationship with Worf in the future. Leybenzon and Kadohata were ciphers to me. If T'Lana goes I hope they do too. Especially Leybenzon after Before Dishonor.

T'Lana acted logically and to some extent within regulations. Leybenzon just acted like a jerk.

Characters don't always end up going in the directions their creators expect. Especially when there are multiple creators involved.

And Leybenzon and Kadohata were pretty clearly set up to be long-term characters as well.

Good points Chris,

I liked T'Lana and wouldn't mind seeing more of her. As for Kadohata and Leybenzon I was really hoping they weren't long-term. I didn't like them in Q & A and liked them even less in Before Dishonor, especially Leybenzon.

I was hoping that some of the SCE characters would replace them. But oh well.

Huh, you've got to be the first person I heard say they didn't like Miranda. Personally, I thought she was great, and I'm really hoping she sticks around. I haven't read Before Dishonor yet, but I think the characterisation in Q&A was strong to cancel out whatever happens in BD.
