Will the production team include scientific advisors?

Ah, I see. I gathered from your initial post that the divisions were hypothetical on your part. I have already stated my scientific credentials (i.e. zilch), and I shall retire to the philosophic realms to which I am more accustomed.

...Not that I'd mean the writers of "Let That Be" would be the "Trek folks" savvy with the deeper meaning of galactic south. It's probably just a happy coincidence that they get the terminology right on occasion, and thus make the "real" Trek folks - our heroes - look so good.

What, like the whole 'black star' thing? That's probably the most fortunate science related accident they've ever had.

One of course wonders if more of those will emerge in the upcoming decades. ;)

he must have had extensive discussions with GR during the script's evolution from In Thy Image to TMP considering he also served as technical advisor on Phase II.

Also "The Sleeping God", a short story by Jesco von Puttkamer, in "Star Trek: The New Voyages 2"

Ah! Thank you for reminding me. I had completely forgotten about JvP's recycling of Die Reise des schlafenden Gottes ("The Voyage of the Sleeping God") into a Phase II pitch and then a short story. Coincidentally, did you know that the commander of the starship Tellus in the original 1960 novella was named Chekov? :)

Science advisors are there to extrapolate on by writers who need cool sounding terms like the only ship in the quadrant which is smaller than a sector by a couple of million parsecs. See what I mean.

The Counter-Earth is just a cool idea in general. I didn't know they made a movie based around it, but given the amount of fantasy scenarios that revolve on simplistic interpretations of Empedocles, I'm no surprised. :)

Not just that one, but an American TV movie along the same lines, THE STRANGER, with TOS' Cochrane, Glenn Corbett, in the early 70s.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those sword&sorceryT&A/S&M GOR books also set on a counter-Earth?

Actually, no.

Who needs science advisers when you have WIKIPEDIA!

KIRK: Mr. Spock. Get me info on this Nero character.
SPOCK: Aye Captain. Hmm...it seems that his entry is just a stub. Would you like to expand it to help meet standards?
KIRK: Damn. Damn damn.

Is that the one where the totalitarian planetary government of Counter-Earth brainwashes citizens with a machine that leaves giant cigarette burns on their temples and beatific smiles on their faces? I faintly recall seeing it as a kid and thinking that JttFSotS had way better looking spacecraft and automobiles.

I honestly don't recall, though that sounds familiar. I'm pretty sure it was on NBC, but don't recall anything else (it sure didn't have anything like the Anderson film's tremendous denoument, that's for sure.
