Will the original timeline ever be restored?

No I mean the one from Ships of the Line (I think) NCC-1000. I didn't say wrong just alternate.

Wow, really? People have been saying things should be alternate realities since before I was even born? Okay, any argument I could ever make has lost all weight then :P

There is a stardate calculator online which somehow is consistent but I have no idea how the formula works, the calculator gives 2323 as the arbitrary start of the new (TNG era) calendar.

I know when not to flog a dead horse.

^Wow, you're the first person that argument's ever worked on! ;)

Hmm, that Bonaventure was kind of cool, but I like the Kelvin too.

I think there could be plenty of interesting stories to tell about the Romulans trying to deal with the loss of their homeworld.
I imagine tattoo artists are doing big buisness!

IIRC, several fan articles in the "Best of Trek" series (and other fanzines of 1980) were quite indignant about ST:TMP. Kirk would never take a desk job. Spock would never leave Jim. The Enterprise looks wrong. The uniforms look wrong. The Klingons wear armour and look like Munchkins? Etc. Therefore it must be an alternate reality.

It seems like such a storm in a teacup these days.
