Will the new enterprise be larger than the TOS?

Klingon2.jpg
You got to admitt, it's a BEAUTFUL piece of work! But what I want to know is...If this ''CG-MODEL'' was alredy finished, then why the hell would they reuse the blasted KA'TINGA Class? A good ''Century and a half'' before it was supposed to be made?

Probably because that CG-model is pretty ugly and doesn't do Eaves' concept scetch any justice.

According to one of the design staff for Enterprise, the model was done in time for the show, with the modeler working for 13 hours straight, but when it was finally made, it was about a day before it needed to rendered and the producers said "We want more windows", the production staff said, frankly, "No." So the producers made them just use the D7 model they had laying around.
Sucks, I know. Now if only someone HERE would model it. :D (preferably around 3k polys, so it can be put into Bridge Commander...? haha)

D4? Why would it look more like the D7 than the clunkier D5?

One reason I call the "Unexpected" cruiser the D-6. Looks more like a D-7 or K'tinga. Simpler name for what appears to an intended evolutionary flow chart.

Ooookay! Let's get back to the topic at hand shall we:D? Will the J.J.PRISE be bigger then TOS PRISE? If what I'm remembering is correct(please correct if wrong) TOS ENT, was about 847 feet long. The RefitPRISE, was about 895-905 Ft long. So I would say that the J.J.PRISE is a little over 920-950 feet long, really just from the look of the ''much'' larger saucer section. Opinions?

The TOS ship was, according to various original sources, roughly 947 feet (289 meters) long and is accepted by most as such. (Some say it could be up to 1080 feet long, though.) The refit was said to be 305 meters long.

Adjust your prediction accordingly. ;)

That's what I thought originaly for a long time,(12 years) but then I saw more evidence in the ''Other'' direction! I have the Franklin mint Enterprise NCC-1701 and in the certificate it came with said 847 feet long. And other various sites & magazines say the same! So forgive me if I'm just a little confused?:( I will try to find the sites and magazines & come back here to give you the info as to what I'm talking about!

It's a typo, I promise. :)

The engine room/deck layout stuff was added but this was from the 'official' writer's guide drawings and it also appeared 'The Making of Star Trek.'

And here's the famous comparison with the aircraft carrier Enterprise:

^Well I'll be a ''Tribbles Uncle''!:D your right! Thanks Praetor, and I saw your ''starfleet evolution'' Thread. Nice work on coming up with each vessels period of history!

I love that old book. Still have my dogeared copy from my childhood. Great B&W blueprints. Pretty detailed for forty years ago.

Yeah, my copy is a third edition I think, and I've only had it for six years, but it's one of the faves on the shelf. :)

One of my favorite things is reading background/discription info that never quite made it to screen from so close to the source, like all of the names of the Enterprise's fellow starships, or Scotty's service history, or McCoy's daughter.
