Will Series 6 Have A Happy Ending?

I was thinking about the end of season 5 and how its the only real happy ending we've had of New Who. The others Have been positive but had their sadness also.

Series 1 Saw the regeneration of the 9th Dr.
Series 2 Had the loss of Rose
Series 3 Had Martha leaving to help her emotionally scarred family.
Season 4 Had the loss of Donna.

Series 5 Everyone lives! Amy's parents are back. Rory's alive. They have a fun wedding then shoot off to further adventure.

I really enjoyed the joy of the end of season 5 and the feelings between the 3 characters.

Series 6 any thoughts?

I hope that the emo-angst Doctor is being put behind us. The constant 'Last-Of-The-Timelords' schtick got very tiresome, especially with the Daleks turning up like cockroaches. Drama is fine, the soap opera melodramatics of RTD's period are something I don't miss. On a side note, is Blitzen getting a new reindeer partner?

Donner? She wasn't a kebab you know ;)

I suspect the end of S6 might be somewhat sad, but I don't think anyone's going to die as such. I doubt it'll be as happy/everybody lives as The Big Bang was.

I suspect it won't have any real ending at all and Moffat will keep dragging out his story for another year. (Two years really since Series 7 won't finish until 2013.)

Oops Donna I was a little hungry :)
I'd think your right with stcoop but it would be a long wait if there's no Dr Who next year as rumoured.

:guffaw:

I suspect there will be unanswered questions taken over into next year but I suspect it won't be quite as convoluted.

I don't think Series 6 will have a happy ending. Matt Smith was quoted recently saying that episode 13 is "Steven answering all of our unanswered questions" (I'll try and find the link) and it will be brilliant. I do believe we will get answers and have this series mystery solved while it will set up things for possibly this year's Christmas Special and series seven. I don't really think Steven Moffat is a happy ending kind of guy. He kind of reminds me of Joss Whedon in that way.

RTD reminds me even more of Joss Whedon. He loves to do nasty things to his characters, doesn't he?

My prediction is they'll close off the current storyline and cliffhanger us into the Christmas special with something.

Happy ending? I doubt it. Remember the Doctor - and the rest of us - know exactly when and how River is going to die, and if the scenario described by River in "Forest of the Dead" (where the Doctor gives her his sonic and cries) play out, it's not going to be a cheery scene. That assumes, of course, that Episode 13 will be the final appearance of River Song. Alex Kingston is popular so there's nothing forcing her to bow out after this season.

The rumours are wrong as the BBC has already announced that at least part of Season 7 will air in 2012, which means they're simply going to split the season again, only this time we'll get a fall set, a Christmas special in the middle, and the rest in early 2013, which will line us up to have Season 8 start in the fall of 2013 just in time for you-know-what.

God they're giving me a headache with all this. Just make it a 'once an month' series and be done with it already.

I think it'll be a melancholy finale, not happy or depressing. They will probably resolve the dangling plot threads and possibly send off Amy and Rory. Might be a tear-jerker depending on whether or not they also send River Song off. In any case, my only real request is they not write it as a bloody cliffhanger!

It's been confirmed in other threads that both Karen and Arthur are returning for series seven so I doubt it will be a send off for anyone, possibly Alex Kingston if episode 13 is indeed her final appearance as that character. I kind of doubt that myself.

Yeah but depends given that rumours suggest that
whilst they're back it might be more akin to Martha in series 4, ie a few Earth bound stories, but they won't be the main companions.
