I guess it's just me but I assume that people who are not in romantic relationships...don't want to be in romantic relationships.
Geordi? Barclay?
There are tons of examples of characters who are semi inept at romance in Trek.

Fair points but I don't see the need for Saru to be in a romantic relationship.Geordi? Barclay?

I will be a bit pedantic and distinguish between relationship and romantic relationship. Seeing Saru outside of office hours in a friendship or relationship would be another way to explore. I guess my feeling is that it doesn't have to be romantic. The way I would look at it is that Saru is typically one of those "all business" type of characters, and seeing him in a relationship could allow us to see a side of him that has heretofore been hidden from the camera.
Just imagine how a guy who shoots darts out his head when he's pissed off is equippedSaru and Tilly - it would be weird one. And kinky one, too.
If you date an Andorian wear a thermal, if you want to date a Vulcan find a V'tosh katur dating site or accept said Vulcan bond is a good reason not to use 'he/she does not understand me', same for dating any telepath. Plus if Worf and Jadzia can do it then so can any two 'humanoids'.I don't think they should be. While the UFP provides an overarching culture for persons to be normalized into so that there can be some kind of normalized framework for a relationship, the specific needs of each species are going to be very great. While there have been a couple of human-vulcan relationships, those are going to be extremely difficult, for instance. And what about all the fights over the thermostat between Andorians and.. well, anyone else?
Sucking at romance isn't the same as not wanting to be in a romantic relationship.Geordi? Barclay?
