Luke Lightsaber
Captain
It's not Star Trek if Kirk doesn't get his shirt ripped!!!
No he won't, because there wouldn't be any effect. I mean, look at that Pine kid- is he even fully grown? Whenever Kirk's got his shirt ripped, you saw PECS. If Pine gets his shirt ripped, you'll probably see acne on an undeveloped area.![]()
Oh good Lord I hope so.SylarSpock as well. And McCoy for that matter.. Abrams seems to be continuing his talent of casting ridiculously hot people with this movie, and he has a good track record with pretty people who can actually act as well which is a plus.

This is a joke right? Pine has a great body. Lean, if not overly muscly. All we saw most of the time with Shat was a beer keg as he desperately sucked it in. Shat with pecs?! Which version of TOS were you watching? I know they did a lot fixing with the remastered episodes but they didn't go that far.
Here is one reference pic of Pine:

And he has bulked up a bit since these days. I'm not saying Shat was bad by any means, but ripped? Hardly. Neither is Pine, but I would say that physically he is a lot fitter than Shat ever was during TOS, and certainly has something closer resembling pecs than moobs.![]()
In a way, I hope they do use the "Kirk with torn shirt" thing, but only as a throw-away -- just as a nod to the icon status of it, wink, and move on, rather than making a big deal out of it à la "You see here? Pine really is Kirk because he's got the torn-shirt thing happening, see?!"
Because it would be kind of lame, if they felt it necessary to do that. Pine should be playing Kirk, and not playing Shatner.
His shirt should get ripped.
His chest will be hairless.

Not necessarily; it's all in how it's played. A sly quote of that music might be just the thing. In a way, I hope they do use the "Kirk with torn shirt" thing, but only as a throw-away -- just as a nod to the icon status of it, wink, and move on, rather than making a big deal out of it à la "You see here? So if the "Kirk and Spock Fighting Music" from Amok Time is playing when Pine's shirt gets ripped, that would be bad?![]()

Yes. You might be confused due to his lack of a pot belly, which we have come to associate with Kirk. We'll all have get used to a leaner, meaner (and significantly taller) Kirk.I mean, look at that Pine kid- is he even fully grown?
Also with hair.
If Kirk's shirt doesn't get ripped then this film will be teh suxage!!!! Cannon gonna be out duh window!!!! ARGGGGGGGH JJ you suck man!!!!

James T. Kirk, now available with real hair. From Mego!
I concur. Kirk's shirt must be ripped.
Corollary: Will Kirk's chest be hairless?
