Will Final Crisis Affect the DCU?

After a year of anxiously awaiting Final Crisis, I ended up being really disappointed with it. It's bizarre and disjointed and just seems to be taking place in a completely different world from the rest of the DCU, both tonally and continuity-wise. It contracts most of Countdown, and every single other event or comic that doesn't say "Final Crisis" in the title is completely ignoring it.

To my mind, this entire thing is one bad "what if?" story. Certainly not worthy of being the tent pole summer crossover. Darkseid finally winning and taking over the Earth is a cool idea and all, but the New Gods being reincarnated in different forms just gives this entire thing an alternate reality doesn't-count feel.

When Final Crisis is done and gone, is it actually going to affect the DCU? Wonder Woman was turned into a pig, for god's sakes. Isn't this going to end with one huge ret-con reality-wipe restoring everything to pre-FC? Is everyone on the Earth actually going to remember being Anti-Life slaves for a few weeks?

Supposedly the rest of the DC Universe will reflect Final Crisis after FC is over, which seems stupid. They're going to have to reconcile things like Black Lightning's daughter being alive in a FC one shot, but supposedly dead in Outsiders wich takes place BEFORE the changes in FC. FC is just one big clusterf*ck on DC's part.

any "even that will change the universe forever" is usually billed bigger than it actually is. i've never seen any such event in any comics i've read where it was as drastic as billed. i mean how can it be? they have to do these kinds of things at least once a year. i just take them as story lines.

Whatever the effects are afterwards, I hope it all ends in a musical number, or at least a dance-off between Darkseid, Kanjar Ro and Billy Batson.

The Original Crisis absolutely changed things. Infinite Crisis had a relatively major impact on the DCU; there's definitely a large tonal change pre and post IC. The pre-IC stuff seems a little on the generic side while the post-IC is more prestigious. Not to mention the buttload of comics that got cancelled/rebooted in IC.

Basically the only major change I see coming is the removal of the Multiverse and just putting it back to one reality. Which is just regressing things to their pre-IC state.
