Will DST get in on the ships from the new film?

Haven't heard if they have the license to make ships for the new film. I would LOVE to see a Diamond Select USS Kelvin. I'm sure they could improve on the Enterprise that was released. It kind of sucks.

DST does not have the license for anything related to the movie.

Playmates said that another ship might be in the third wave (either end of the year or begining of 2010).

^ As said above Playmates has the exclusive license for all toys based upon the new film. With the sales that they've been seeing I doubt they'll give it up any time soon either.

Your other non-model replica option will be from QMX.They will be releasing 3 foot and foot long version of the new Enterprise. They will also do a small version of the Kelvin and depending on sales other Starfleet ships. The QMX ships even the small ones will be much more than Playmates or DST/AA ships. I think DST/AA has been doing a fairly decent job with their licenses, even if they are delayed beyond known limits. I just got the Enterprise-D "All Good Things" edition and it's a thing of beauty. It's got a "all lights on" mode for crying out loud! How is that not a cool option?

That's a good question. Phasers disappear from shelves immediately, but I didn't see a lot of other merchandise move before it hit clearance. They do plan more waves of figures.

I don't know about DST anymore. Used to be they had some really great Trek things, but lately things I've gotten have been hit or miss in quality.

Complain all you want about the Playmates Enterprise, but it had no electronic flaws, mine was built well and on sale I got it for half of what I'd pay for a DST ship.

I heard about this elsewhere. While it's a cool idea, my understanding is that its going to cost, like, $1500. For that money, the son of a bitch better have warp drive.
