Wil Wheaton

I like reading Wil Wheaton's blog and some of his columns. I was wondering how many other fans of his are here. What do you think of Wil Wheaton?

Do you like him better than Wes on TNG? ( I like them both )

Have you met him at a convention? ( I haven't been to one )

Did you tune into Criminal Minds to see him guest star? ( I did )

I am just curious of what responses I would get. Have a nice day fellow ST fans.

Like the guy all around. Great review writer, and has a great sense of humor towards himself and the role he played too. Wish him well, and thank him for his work on Star Trek TNG. While it's fun to bash Wesley, he actually did add a lot to the show and I'd rather have a TNG with him than without him.

But now I can't hear his name without thinking "Whil Wheaton"

It's Hwil Hweaton ;-)

dude!! I read Wil Wheaton's blog nearly everytime he posts something new, and I downloaded two of his podcasts- one is 3 years old so it's not very relevant, and the other is a mix tape of really weird sound bits and music. fun stuff.

I also watched Americanizing Shelley just to see Wil Wheaton guest star. I ended up liking the movie itself more than I liked his acting in it XD..

Wesley Crusher is also pretty much my favorite character... but I also like Wil Wheaton as a person, judging from his speeches at cons(seen on youtube) and his stories and general attitude.

I've decided that if I ever got cancer and qualified for the Make A Wish Foundation, I would request to go to Disney World with Wil Wheaton (and maybe his family, his sons are around my age. hm.. :p).

so there's my fangirl spiel of the day.

... he actually did add a lot to the show and I'd rather have a TNG with him than without him.
That's nicely put and I completely agree. I really like Wil Wheaton. He seems to be one of the most sympathetic and down-to-earth guys who worked on Trek. He also has a great sense of humor; I love his blog. Personally I never had a problem with his character and I think he's a wonderful actor.

Hilarious writer, I am going to pick up "Dance Barefoot" one of these days. It's on my list.
Whenever he writes about the "good old days" and such, I have a good angle on his perspective being the same age. On topics like the golden age of coin-op games, paper RPG's, we're cut from a similar cloth.
The TNG reviews make my sides hurt.

Wil Wheaton is a celebrity. He's okay at playing a nerd, or an angry nerd. I wouldn't consider him an amazing actor.

I've met him before, he's a nice enough guy. He's borderline political, and I prefer my celebrities keep their mouths shut about issues that don't involve their profession.

When he was on TNG i thought he was adorable and didn't mind his character as much as some people do. My son was alot like Wes in that he has this amazing mind and was kind of, different.

I was only recently turned onto his blog and i love reading it along with his TNG reviews. I think he is hilarious! What a great sense of humor and attitude. Yes, i try to watch everything he guest stars in.

It blows my mind that he is a husband and a father (like my son, he'll always be a kid in my mind)....

I've never met him but would love to although i would probably be compelled to pinch his cheek.

I very much want to get his books (they are on my xmas wish list).

I wish him nothing but success and happiness and good health. I love ya Wil!

He's a proper geek :) He used to have his own forum, it was quite a fun place to hang out.

He's seems like a good guy, very honest and self-deprecating. Kind of the Walter Koenig of the TNG cast.

I love Will, he's awesome. Funny, witty, nerdy. I read his blog anytime I can.

I didn't care much for Wesley Crusher in TNG (I like a couple of good episode about him however), but I have no problem distinguishing between the actor and the character.

I did not see the Criminal Mind episode, but I did see The Big Bang Theory. :D

I have nothing but respect for Wil. I very much enjoy his writings, and I have listened to him several times on audio files where he has been giving speeches/reflections. I would enjoy hearing him in person.

I'd like him a lot more if he gave us another TV Squad TNG review! :p

I also liked his story where he recounted being trashed by William Shatner and vowing never to treat fans the same way.

I liked his ideas about Wesley. Wheaton was a bit (a lot) of a geek in his childhood, as most of us were, and dealt with social problems, teasing, awkwardness, etc. He's said in the past that if the writers had written Wesley as being more of a social outcast, that he maybe would have been less grating on fans.

I remember reading...was it Imzadi?...one of the Star Trek novels...and it had a scene where Wesley was fleeing in a panic and ended up getting shot...only to reveal he was on the holodeck playing with some other kids. Everyone had a phaser set to stun, and they all ganged up on Wesley and zapped the crap out of him. The idea was something like: Oh? Big man, walking around in your tailor made uniform! Well, as far as we're concerned, you're shit. Zap!

I think that if they had taken this direction with the character more people would have sympathized with him.

Wil always came across as a genuine geek, like the way real nerds are, not the over exaggerated Steve Urkel stereotype. Wil was not a mega geek, but still a geek. The kind of "in the know" geek that a lot of girls may like, but probably not hot girls. He wasn't as chamelon like as his Stand By Me co-stars who could play variety. Wil could never play a cool guy or a tough guy, he was always a geek. Correction, I do think Wil could play the cool geek in a group of geeky guys, like if there was a sci-fi convention going around, Wil could very well be one of the cooler guys there. So I think he's a nice guy, but certainly not a great actor.

He did a nice job on The Big Bang Theory, even though I have to hate that version of Wil Wheaton for tricking my boy Sheldon.

No one should mess with Sheldon!

He did a decent turn as a serial killer on Criminal Minds. Overall, after reading his blog and other postings, he seems like a pretty cool dude.
