I'd like to see Wesley again. The wunderkid who never lived up to his potential. There's at least a guest appearance on Picard's new show in that premise.
Before, the alternate timeline was said to wipe out the Prime universe. Is it now the case that the Prime universe is left intact and the Kelvin alternate-universe is a parallel universe based on one of the parallel universe theories (any action's possible choices are all carried out in parallel dimensions)? The show is said to show Picard dealing with the destruction of the Romulan Star Empire per the 2009 flick so, somehow, the timeline doesn't alter or wipe out aspects of the future. Unless it does, since we've been told this is a very different Picard, just how the differences are isn't even hinted at. I hope that premiere will be good! Ideally it'd be a "Yesterday's Enterprise" redux where Guinan special guest stars, blinks her eyes and makes that sound Jeannie always had, and *bleep* the timeline is restored and Kelvinville disappears in a puf'n'stuf of smoke.
In the Kelvin timeline, these characters are not going to be the same. The Wesley that appears may be nothing like the one we were accustomed to in the original timeline.
Ditto for Picard, Data, the Professor, Mary Ann, and the rest. But of greater interest, Sir Patrick Stewart, who was previously balking at reprising the role, clearly found something of interest to be lured back. I'm intrigued, but I'm not necessarily going to be surprised if the show ultimately goes in a certain direction. And/or if the show just bandies around aimlessly stereotyped traits the way they did with NuKirk and co for the first two Kelvin era movies ("Beyond" was actually decent, feeling truer to Prime universe...) But isn't that all that casual audiences recognize, the superficial stuff. Stuff like "Kirk always banged green chix, right? McCoy had his one catchphrase and hated Spock, right? The show had enemies like Romulans and Klingons, right?" So there's no moral dilemma or human condition arguing, all NuMcCoy did was say "You're out of your Vulcan mind", Scotty drank, Chekov invented everything in Wenningwad Wussia, etc. Kelvin timeline is just a parody.
