Wii Problem, Please Help?

So we've had our Wii for about four days now. Everything has been working fine, but all of a sudden, starting last night, the hand cursor on the screen is pretty jerky. Especially towards the top of my TV screen.

We have checked everything we could think of. We changed the remote batteries, removed every possible source of light or interference, reconnected the remotes to the Wii, repositioned the sensor bar in about a million different ways, etc.

We just cannot figure out what the problem is, and why it just started last night. We hadn't changed anything before that time. I played Wii Fit a couple of hours before this happened, that's the only thing I could think of. I don't think the balance board would mess up the remotes/sensors, would it? I don't see how but maybe there's something I'm missing. I've played Wii Fit before without problems afterward.

I don't know what is going on and it is driving me crazy!

You don't have anything hot, or IR transmitters about do you? The Wii remote picks up IR, so anything from sunlight to someone pressing the remote control in it's line of sight can interfere.

^I really don't think we do. We checked for everything we could think of.

I forgot to mention that the cursor works perfectly normal if you are really close to the TV, about 3 ft. or less. This seems weird as it says you are supposed to be within 3-10 feet away. Ugh this is so annoying!

Try going in to your settings and adjusting the sensor to the highest level, see if that helps.

It didn't really have any affect at all. I tried that last night hoping it would work but no change.

I wish I could figure out what the heck changed in the last day to make this happen. It was working so well before. Maybe possibly our neighbors could be providing some interference (we live in an apartment surrounded on both sides), but I can't see that having such a strong effect unless it was right in our living room.

^The only other things I can think of is are the batteries fresh? and have you checked the cable on the sensor bar to make sure it hasn't been pulled out or anything?

Man you're quick to respond. Yeah we replaced all the batteries and unplugged the sensor bar and plugged it back in and all that. No one has even touched it for the past few days though, it has just been sitting there on the TV stand. We don't think it is a problem with the remotes since we have two of them and they are both having the same issue. But the sensor bar seems to work perfectly fine within 3 ft. of the TV.

Well I'm just sat here bored, so I've got nothing better to do.

If you've turned the sensitivity up it could be that that's causing problems try turning it back down and seeing how it is at each level.
The only other thing I can think of is if you're near any curtains or anything, where little pin pricks of sunlight could be shining through, I know I've had that problem in the past.

The thing is this started happening at night, so there wasn't any light anyway. It is near curtains so we adjusted them at every possible angle but nothing changed.

The sensitivity, when it was on the lowest setting, made the problem worse. On the highest setting there was no change. It is now back at 3 with the same problems. We also tried moving it from the bottom of the tv to the top of the tv but that didn't change anything either.

My Wiimote cursor is jerky too, and I've done all that you have Spot's Meow. I just learned to deal with it, as annoying as it is.

I could live with it if it had come that way, because I wouldn't know any better. But after having it work so smoothly and nicely for four days and suddenly changing I am pretty annoyed.

Well I do find it odd that it was fine and it started a few days later, but I was pretty much going to echo Akiraprise here. I'm actually on my second Wii (I got bored with the first one and stupidly sold it) and it did the same thing, the cursor was real jumpy at the bottom edges of the screen but more okay at the top.

Flash forward to my new Wii that I just got about 2 weeks ago. It has the same jump cursor. But I might add, it seems only to be happening in the Wii menu screen, I don't really notice it in-game so much.

^ That's true. It seems really jerky in the menu screen but in game I don't really notice it too much. Although it could be frustrating at times in Twilight Princess when trying to aim the hookshot or bow.

You could try switching the sensor bar position.

I found it much better after I switched from the top of the TV to the bottom. There's a menu setting for that as well.

Yeah, we have switched it. It was originally on the bottom, working fine. After the problem started we switched it to the top but nothing changed. It's back on the bottom again now.
