Why X-Men: The Last Stand rocked!

I liked it, but it still freaked me out.

She's a very convincing actress. For that matter so was Patrick Wilson who was in the film and played Nite Owl/Dan Dreiberg in 'Watchmen.'

I put it in my Netflix account, so I'm going to judge it for myself.

Pray for me.

It's a good film. I was just almost sick watching it :D
You don't see anything, and I like gory films like Saw & Hostel (its not like that at all btw), but there's just something about the thought of "damage" to your privates that just makes me really squeamish.
So sat in a cinema and that scene comes on I just had this image in my head for about 10 minutes of what she's doing to him, and I nearly had to walk out for some fresh air. I even had my eyes shut for some of it

But that's just me, most are probably fine with it

Did you have to spoil it for me?

Really, he didn't. You have to watch to understand.

That said, no one say anything else!!!

Captain Craig has Terminator Salvation, captcalhoun has Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and I guess Tuln has X-Men: The Last Stand. I wonder who the biggest GI Joe cheerleader on here will be. :)

Anyway, I just saw the movie for the first time after avoiding it for three years, so rather than start a new thread I just resurrected the last one I could find.

I was entertained and underwhelmed at the same time, which is just about the highest praise you can give to vanilla director Brett Ratner. Obviously there was a bigger, grander story just dying to be told that ended up being compacted into a bunch of wasted actors, plot points dictated by stupidity and logical next steps in storytelling ditched in favor of the short runtime. The shift in writing team and director was painfully obvious.

It was cool spotting a pre-Grey's Anatomy Eric Dane, a pre-Heroes Dania Ramirez and a pre-Heroes Ken Leung, but good lord were there a bunch of actors who were completely wasted. Anna Paquin, Vinnie Jones, Rebecca Romijn, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Olivia Williams, Bill Duke, Ben Foster -- what was the point in even casting some of the new additions in meaningless roles? I hope they at least got decent paychecks out of them. At least with Colossus, you had a no-name actor to do a nothing role.

And that was just about the most anticlimatic third act final battle I've ever seen.

I don't think that I hate X3 as much as I am disappointed by it. At the end of X2 we get a small hint of maybe what Singer and his writers were planning to do with Phoenix when they had her voice over talking about evolution. I think the repressed thing came out of that plan but I could be wrong. Scott being killed by Jean bothered me as well, and yes there was no body shown but I doubt he could have survived that.

The Sentinel sequence at the start of the movie and the Danger Room finally being included were nice but almost pointless. The Sentinels should have played a more important role in these movies and maybe still can if they plan on doing X4 or the rumored X-Men: First Class film. Kelsey Grammer as Beast was pretty awesome. Instead of adopting Joss Whedon's mutant cure they should have introduced the Legacy Virus...I understand this would take away the sub-plot of Rouge's decision to have the cure or whatever but it opens up other possibilties and increases the mutant/human relations since the virus affects humans as well.

The post credits scene with Charles waking up at Muir Island with Moira was okay...I assume the other body was either a clone or a comatose Cassandra Nova type character. Charles I don't think ever had a twin in the comics. Magneto loosing his powers seems like it was borrowed from Ultimate X-Men, and Logan killing Jean seems to be taken from the end of Morrison's New X-Men where Logan kills Jean in order to prevent the Phoenix from emerging again. Also to save them both from Astroid M from crashing into the sun.

One of the problems that I have with the X-Men Trilogy is framing the movies around Wolverine, I realize that he's a popular character and there was a ton of hype surrounding him before X-Men came out and everyone was excited to see him (including me) but I think he was elevated into a major leadership role too quickly. The movies focused around him and the other characters, such as Scott (the true leader) suffered. Halle Berry barely did anything as Storm except have a few moments in each of the movies. Also I think the first movie suffers a little from not having the original X-Men or explaining where they were (although I think Charles explains to Logan during the small training montage with Cyclops and Jean that his original students have moved on except for Jean, Scott, and Storm who remained behind to help him teach the other students). This is one of the reasons why I'd like to see a First Class movie so much.

Thanks to somebody for defending the movie. I thought X2 was the most solid film in the series but I enjoyed all of them and thought that X3 was still pretty good and had some cool scenes with Jean/Phoenix. Kelsey Grammer did a terrific job as "The Beast"- a role that I never imagined him in but which he handled well.
