Not true. The two systems could be independent. For example when there's a power outage your land phone is still functioning in spite of it needing electricity to operate....

Captain, the Enterprise computer system is a lot like our own bodies with voluntary and involuntary system. Now, probably ninety percent of what happens on this ship is done automatically. Completely out of our control. We're sitting on a bomb that could go off any second, or maybe never.
I think they tried to suggest it was due to it's being a prototype and the immense amount of power required to use the EMH so a small sick bay could include an extra pair of hands
Not sure I buy that though. It would make sense to have them in other areas of the ship.
I never understood why we didn't see hologram crew in DS9. Why no EMH on the Defiant? Apparently they were new technology that Starfleet were using everywhere (yet we didn't see them). We know the EMH holograms were constantly being upgraded (the mark 2 mocks the EMH) and Zimmerman mentions further upgrades.......so where are they?...why don't we see more of them?
By the end of Voyager, it's hinted that holograms will become full equal citizens so I doubt they'll be able to use them as tools on ships anymore.......but lots of crew members maybe

Nope, never wondered about that. Although I've it always thought a strange (but not paradoxical or so) idea that the mobile emitter first 'generates' the EMH, who then 'carries' around the emitter.... so essentially the emitter carries around itself...
However, I have wondered how the 'internal transporter node' system from the "29th century drone" would work.... I mean, in order for the drone to rematerialise at another location without external transporter there probably would have to be part of the internal transporter nodes that can't be dematerialised themselves at that instant, but must be transported slightly earlier or slightly later, right ?

Maybe the mobile emitter generates some sort of force field which creates mass.
