Why won't Spock shave and put on a starfleet uniform?

Honestly I'm kinda used to it by now and think it's a cool look for him. And I think it still fits in well enough with the more unkempt hairstyle we saw in The Cage.

Plus he probably just doesn't see the need to shave since he's in more of an advisory role on Discovery right now.

Maybe at the end of season we find out Spock shaved ever since Burnham mentioned it and isn't going to give her the satisfaction of knowing that. When they make up for good in the final episode we find out he has been wearing a fake beard since then and they say their goodbyes he gives it to her as keepsake to always remember him by. Turns out same thing with Tyler. Final scene of the season is her holding both beards and pondering her lost love and brother.

Come on, it's only been 5 episodes. Deanna Troi didn't shave or put on a uniform for 5 seasons.

A young Noonien Soong stole his razor. It's the only possession Data had when he joined starfleet, and he ended up modifying it and giving out to Geordi. He was really hurt when LaForge preferred a less precise model.

The idea that an engineer, of all people, would prefer a less precise shaving razor was just bizarre - the writers making up whatever dialogue they could think of to fill out a little scene in the script. I've never heard a man say "I like a clumsier shave," and if you ask someone who uses, say, a straight razor why they do it you're not going to get "Well, it's less precise and a little trickier to avoid cutting myself" as the answer.
