Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season 3?

Re: Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season

If Neelix was kept becuase there was more investment in his latex, consider Jennifer the reverse, since she had developed an allergy to latex and could no longer safely wear her ears, and might as well be another bloody human being.
Is that why she changed to such an ugly hairstyle? To cover her no-longer-Ocampan ears?

His behaviour was so bad that they banned him from 2 episodes in season 3 (which cost the boy 10's of thousands of dollars, since he's not going to get paid for work he doesn't do.)
Is this true? I'm not familiar with SAG rules and what's in an actor's contract, but I recall reading something somewhere that stated something to the effect that "regular" actors on a series (those with their names in the opening credits) get paid regardless of whether or not they actually appear in an episode (unless there's a clause stating otherwise). It could be the case that they get more money if they appear in an episode, but still get some base amount if they aren't in an episode. Or this information could be incorrect.
To some extent, wouldn't it have depended on what sort of deal his agent negotiated for him?

I'd have got rid of Neelix. Janeway, Torres, Tuvok and Kes too...
You'd have kept Chakotay?

Well, I guess somebody has to be the Captain.

I mean I don't know exactly how it works but I feel like morale of the cast must have suffered....going through a period of "I wonder who's getting fired"...

I work in a creative line of work too...and it's hard to be creative and do a good job when stuff like that is going on around you. A creative work environment with tight deadlines and crazy hours is something I live every day...and it's much different from your average work environment. During that time of deciding who is going to get the sack, I'm sure it made things tense on the set and that is all just wasted focus and effort they could have been putting into their performance.
From your location and the above, I'm guessing you might work for one of the east coast-based soaps? This is exactly the kinds of things I've seen mentioned in articles talking about the backstage goings-on. It becomes a balancing act of "if I give it my all, maybe they'll keep me" vs "why should I give it my all if they're probably going to fire me anyway?".

When I saw Wang at a con he said they hardly make any money from syndication, dvd's etc..

Though what his hardly any money means I don't know. He talked about it like they get a couple hundred in the mail every few months.

That sounds about right, when is the last time you saw Voyager on TV? Anyone who was going to buy the DVDs already has. Voyager isn't really the show everyone is running out to buy action figures, trading cards, etc. these days.

If Voyager isn't making the studio much money right now (because they're not doing anything with it) then he wouldn't see the payouts. It's almost guaranteed he gets one of the lowest cuts out of the cast as well.
Dunno about other countries, but Voyager has been a staple of the Space Channel in Canada for a very long time.

Wow, they really did not give him much screen time after Seven took over.
Neelix taught Seven how to eat real food.

So they have to get rid of someone to make room for Seven of Nine. So instead of choosing the insufferably annoying and obnoxious character who fans hated with a fiery passion, they choose the likeable, compassionate, and competent one. Voyager, you fail.
I found Kes to be insufferably annoying, and am glad they got rid of her.

I didn't hate his character. It was odd and peculiar though. "We need this guy as a guide...plus his wife is hot."
What wife? Neelix and Kes were never married.

It is rather astonishing that more kids weren't born during VOYAGER's run. Rubbers and Morning After Pills must've been in very short supply, as they made their way through the Delta Quardrant. What else was there to do besides holodeck adventures to relieve the monotony? Even the chaste B'Elanna had every guy chasing her - including a particularly randy Vulcan. To be Frank & Ernest, I always just took it as read that chicks were getting knocked up, all the time ... it just wasn't brought up.

I guess TPTB liked The 'Lix (and The 'Lips) more than they did Harry or Kes.

I am continually in awe at Timewalker's multi-quote prowess. Every time I try and do that many half of it disappears.

The.. Lips? Is T'Pol on this show?

Thanks. :)

I got used to multiquoting years ago on a forum where people were infracted for double-posting, never mind triple-posting. This forum is actually a bit easier since nested quotes are allowed. On that other site, I have to do nested quotes manually.

The (Ethan Phil)Lips

The (Nee)Lix

This is what happens when I venture into the Voyager forum with that episode guest starring The Rock in mind.

And what wrestling name would Janeway have?

We already have one for.. Chuckles.

Re: Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season

"Bun of Steel" Kathryn Janeway. Her catchphrase would be: "It's Janeway, or the highway!"

I'm assuming Frank & Ernest are a misogynistic comedy act.

In DS9 we found out that (for humans) it's a monthly hypospray shot taken by both genders. Both participants have to lapse before they can conceive a child.

The Doctors Daughter played Sookie's cousin on True Blood, so there's like a 5 percent chance we've seen her a little bit naked.

They do grow up fast.

Re: Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season

The EMH would be able to whip up contraceptives just like he whips up other drugs.

I don't think we saw much of Sookie's cousin naked wise, she did a lot of fawning around the Queen but nothing ever eventuated with that.. the Queen seemed more interested in her male consort/slaves.

Re: Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season

C-list celebrity boobs, f-list in this case, are just not that important to me any more.

Re: Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season

Being all porned out does not mean that meeting women in person is not exciting, even though I'm well trained to excrete disinterest from every pore. There is nothing I find more annoying than a woman miscalulating that I am in love with her just because It seems like I should have no standards and be swinging wildly at everything pitch.

My earlier post tripped something in my mind and I've started downloading season one of Kathy Griffen My Life on the D-List.

Re: Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season

I guess that would only be annoying if they rejected you when you had in fact made no such advance.. here have a freebie rejection for something you never asked for!

Re: Why Wasn't Neelix considered a candidate for removal after season

Doubtful. A lot of females are in defense mode ready to repel the hordes they think may be trying to catch them in widely thrown nets. Oh did you talk to me a little bit, WERE YOU BEING NICE?!! Fuck off, I don't want to date you.

But really communication problems abound.

Yup. There is an echo in here. :)

Ethan was there for comedy.

They'd have gotten rid of him if they wanted to bring in someone new who was funnier.

Jeri was brought in for sexiness, so they had to remove someone else that was there for sexiness and not living up to that sexiness.
