Why was there never a "Vulcan Love Slave" novel?

Less of the erotic, more of the love slave...

Again, what on Earth are you talking about?

I hate it when people do this crap. If you want to complain about something, just complain about it. People violently pan books on here all the time (just look at the latest iteration of the Janeway debate). You won't hurt anyone's feelings.

No reason to be cagey except to up the Internet Drama Factor.

It has nothing to do with drama, perhaps something to do with feelings, but primarily curiosity. I was interested to see whether something that had struck me as so incredibly inappropriate was in the forefront of other people's minds, which would be demonstrated by their recognition of the story that I was referring to.

Since that was not the case, perhaps my take on it was unique. That does not change the take, of course, but makes me less willing to express it lest I go through the tedious process of trying to explain and defend a strong instinctive reaction, or be seen to be having an unfair go at a particular person for something that (others, at least) did not consider a problem.

I don't know what it says that I can think of specific sex scenes in Star Trek novels. But none of these compare to the prologue to Doctor Who's The Adventuress of Henrietta Street, which opens with a six or seven page tantric sex act that opens a hole in the fabric of reality. Seriously.
Did Grant Morrison write a Dr. Who novel, then?
I would love for Morrison to write a Doctor Who novel. There were rumors around the turn of the millennium, but, alas, it was just SFX blowing smoke.

Adventuress was written by Lawrence Miles. The tantric sex prologue, strange as this sounds, is the only part of the book that is any sort of conventional narrative. The rest of the book -- and there's a lot of book -- is written as a history text.

I nominate Bertrice Small and/or Laurell K. Hamilton to write the book...*ahem*

Never heard of Small; just read part of her bio and stopped at the part where she mentions the astrological signs of herself, her husband, and her kid. Not an ideal choice for writing fiction set in a pro-science, pro-rationalist fictional universe.

As for Hamilton, I don't remember liking her one Trek novel very much, and I have my doubts about whether adding sex scenes would have helped.

 Just throwing names out there, Steve; but based on your descriptions, I agree, they may not be right for the Trek novel...

Peter David, with Imzadi, was able to make a sexy/teasing novel; he may be a good choice...

Not an astrological person myself- at all... but she could still write about sex. :p

Somehow I doubt that Star Trek can afford Hamilton anymore . . . :)

Yeah, Small is pretty heavy on the sexual aspects of things...
