Why was Kes written off the show?

If Kes is the Holy Ghost then Janeway is obviously God and 7 of 9 is her daughter with with whom she is well pleased. After Kes blows up in Fury who takes up her role in the trinity?

Wait, of course.. it's the Borg Queen. She's perfect.

The pathetic creature seen in the worst episode in the history of TV wasn't the real Kes so The Borg Queen's request is denied.

"the worst episode in the history of TV?" wow. It's a pretty bad one, and a slap in the face to Kes and Lien I agree, but it's not even the worst episode of VOY, much less all of television.

Honestly, I've seen lots and lots of crap on TV in recent years but nothing worse than "Fury".

OK, "Threshold" was bad but it was at least funny in some places. "Fury" was only insulting to the fans, especially the Kes fans.

I thought Fury was much worse than Threshold. Threshold is a straight sci fi story that suddenly morphs into bizarre hilarity. It is never boring. Fury is pretty dull and stupid.

(I would put the worst Trek ep as ENT's TATV and second as TOS's The Alternative Factor.)

"Fury" really was one of the all time worst episodes, the whole direction they went with the story was wrong wrong wrong - even Fuller admitted that. Its hard to think of any aspect of "Fury" that was done right.

In X-Men comics, in movies too, but more vomitously awful, the sweet little ginger innocent and darling telepath gets possessed by a goddess of destruction universal aspect creating an avatar who eats planets for the common good of universal harmony like that Elton john circle of life bullshit... "Dark Phoenix"

Kes walking down that corridor with the pyrotechnics and the amped I've gone bad" vibe looked like we into a pretty decent story about gods and monsters corrupting the innocent and...

Face.

It's the other side of the coin to Darth Vader taking off his helmet.

If "Fury" be Hell, you haven't even scratched Purgatory. There are far worse. The only things that come to mind offhand are a Jack Benny episode where he plays the violin off-key for an awkwardly long time. Like nails on a chalkboard and for minutes at a time. Then there's Route 66, a series I love, but it has one really horrible episode, "Is It True There are Poxies at the Bottom of Landfair Lake?" which has a monologue longer than the title. A boring guest star who's an a-hole tells a story, a really boring story. This goes on for 14-15 minutes! No interruption, no back and forth, just him telling this stupid story, and he's completely unlikeable. The most we see are the camera cutting to Tod & Linc or the guest stars and their eyes glazing over as he goes on and on and on and on.... This series had some long soliloquys, but I don't think any other clocked over 5 minutes and some of those were actually good. Not this one. Whenever that scene is on, it's like time stops, but he just can't shut up. No, it can get far worse from "Fury".

Having seen both of these made me realize early television experimented with some things you just don't see done on tv anymore, like very shrill chalkboard-esque sounds, especially for longer than 2 or 3 seconds or monologues almost as long as whole episodes way back (I'm referring to 15 minute soap operas).

No, "Fury" really does belong among the all time worst television episodes.
It brings back a character after 2 years who left the ship and her friends behind in mysterious circumstances that are never fully explained........and then neglects to address ANY of that. That alone earns "Fury" a place in TV hell. Not to mention the fact that the episode single-handedly changes the whole first 3 seasons of the show in an unknown way. People are not exaggerating when they rage about "Fury".

TATV is the worst episode in all of Star Trek.

I don't see any point in comparing bad episodes of Trek with other tv, unless it's a similar sci fi and era show such as Bab5 or Stargate.
