Why was 7/C so disliked?

I don't have anything to add that hasn't already been said over the last 20 years except to say that even if they had made an effort to sell this pairing, it was spoiling four others than enjoyed far greater popularity with the fandom and they all likely would've formed Voltron to bash this pairing regardless cuz shippers gonna ship haha

That said, the Watsonian reason for this pairing's existance with Beltran daring Braga to write it, knowing full well he and Ryan were dating, is entirely gross and makes it all the worse.

I know Janeway/Chakotay. What were the other three?

Because it was rushed, appearing with less than 10 episodes left in the whole series. You wanna have it as Seven's fantasy? Fine. But don't make it real. It's silliness, much like Worf and Troi in Season 7 of TNG.

I read that this happened, but this is my interpretation of actual events..

In bed, mostly naked, lovers Jeri and Brannon were talking about the last episode of Voyager, still months away. "Oh honey, It's going to be awesome, I got you doing the craziest shit, you are going to love it."

I never disliked the Chakotay/Seven romance, but I didn't love it. I thought it was a rushed job and it happened near the end of the series' run.

However . . . the establishment of Seven's relationship with Raffi seemed even more rushed, appearing out of the blue at the end of Season One. And then we learned they had broken up at the beginning of Season Three. Very unsatisfying.

Yeah, I was willing to give PIC the benefit of the doubt after season 1 because there were, to put it as generously as possible, a lot of moving parts and I realize it can take a season to warm up. I definitely did not expect all the character development for them (and the rest of the characters) to take place off-screen during a year long time skip.

I understand why people give grace to queer couples, because it's always an uphill battle to get any rep onscreen, no matter how poorly or well written the pairing is. But I think it's a very fair question to ask what the hell either sees in the other to make me WANT to see them get back together.
