Why The Hell Isn't Dr. M'Benga In This Movie?

How about we bring back Bailey while we're at it. And to complete his character, we'll introduce Balok....
I liked Mr. Bailey. He acted a lot like I think I would act if faced with that situation -- scared shitless!

But, please, no Balok. He frightens me. And I'm not talking about puppet Balok either -- I mean Clint Howard Balok. Little bald-headed Clint Howard with that weird mouth and dubbed incongruous voice gave me the creeps. I had nightmares for a while after first seeing "Corbomite".
Did you ever see Clint's appearance as Balok at the Shatner roast?

Holy crap! So did Ron ever get charged for beating his brother with an ugly stick?

Picard : Wuh ?

Riker : At least it's not time travel talk again.... I still have a headache from that thread.

Fuck M'Benga.

I will torch Paramount to the ground if they don't put Lieutenant Fucking Kyle in this movie, though. I cannot accept or tolerate a Star Trek without the guy.

Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.

Dr. M'Benga was always one of my favorite minor characters from TOS.

But if the story doesn't need him, it's probably best that he is left out.

Why isn't Harry Mudd in this movie? Maybe Mudd went back in time, hiding onboard the Narada, secretly carrying the plans to Data's positronic net. And it just wouldn't be a movie if they didn't stumble across The Botany Bay again.

Yea thats it! Lets spend $150 millon RE-INVENTING Star Trek, while retaining all the old characters, stories, designs, etc. That should work out just great! Yea, we'll make another fan film, ignore the general public's taste, and lose money once again. And we'll let Berman write another epic cliche fest. Great plan!

Uh yeah...they're not re-inventing anything.....and they are retaining old characters...they're just picking and choosing which ones will be referenced/included to however it suits them and thier "new" movie. Damn I'm in a bad mood today!

That was amusing...I think it could of been a lot funnier though....wookie snatch LOL ...I don't think I've heard that combination of words ever put together before LOL.

I get the impression that bit was put together on short notice. I thought it was pretty funny, for what it was, though.

...

You need to go write some captions. :p

Which is exactly what I would do. Is also what the writers of TOS did every week.

Yeah, I noticed. Want some chocolate?

How dare you point that out !!!!!!! I am paying you to back me up no matter what I say...you can forget your ration for this week bub!! :p

Yeah baby...a milky way, a TOS and a joint...that's been my saturday night for the past few weeks...damn I'm gettin old!

M'Benga's too busy slapping Spock to consciousness to appear.

Speaking of which, who's made a gif of that? :D

I'm pretty sure I've seen one, but I couldn't tell you where it was.

There are a couple of fairly talented image animators around who could do one, I'll bet.

Just thinking, it's well known at this point that there will be several scenes taking place on Vulcan. And we know from A Private Little War that Dr. M'Benga studied on Vulcan. So come on! Can't this tale of a young TOS gang feature Medical Intern M'Benga as well? They wouldn't have to give him a large role, just have him hanging out with Spock, Sarek and the family, maybe help fight against Nero and his funky drill. Not including M'Benga in the Vulcan scenes seems like a major oversight on the part of Abrams and the Cohorts. This would be like having an Enterprise incapable of warp drive.

What the hell is up with all the neglected important characters, anyway? Gary Mitchell, Robert April, Dr. M'Benga, the list could go on. Did they really feel such characters as a drunk uncle and a hoverbike riding cop were more necessary than these pillars of the Trekverse? And furthermore, though there has been much discussion about April and Mitchell, this is the first time anyone has mentioned M'Benga. Come one, people, Spock owes his life to M'Benga! This guy is as important to the Trekverse as Mr Leslie, who I noticed also isn't in the movie. Fandom should be in an uproar over this.

I myself am ashamed to have spent so much time whining about a zero when such a greater crime was evident. So what say the rest of you? Do you agree that M'Benga should be in this movie, or are you already taken in by a flashy trailer which admittedly doesn't look half bad, despite there being no M'Benga?

M'Benga is M'Waiting for M'Sequel.
M'Shigitty M'Ready.

Screw M'benga. M'sharak deserves a cameo more than that Vulcan-slapping hack does.

I'd like to see him as the officer running the Kobayashi Maru simulator computer, and when Kirk cheats and wins, he lets out a despondent sigh and adds an infraction to his profile. Then he rips off his uniform, showing he's got like a badass outfit on which is a cross between han solo's outfit and a ninja outfit, with that kickass jacket Howard Hughes used to wear. Then he jumps on top of a flying Segway and goes off to Delta Vega to play golf with Captain Robau.

Well, I did this one a few months ago for a thread where someone asked "Is Nurse Chapelle in this?".

You need to be a fan of The Chapelle Show [comedian Dave Chapelle] to understand this...it is a spoof of the Chapelle Show's "Rick James/Charlie Murphy" skit.

This is M'Bengas slapping scene, but my take on it was just prior to M'Benga's part:
