Yeah, it puts me in a weird spot. I don't think anyone complaining is wrong, I just don't find what they're complaining about to be an issue for me. Picard Season 3 ended at a point where I wouldn't have a problem with them stopping there, yet I'd also welcome Legacy.
The three main differences between SNW and Legacy:
1. We don't know where Legacy would lead to, whereas we know exactly where SNW would lead to: TOS. I want to know what happens next, not what happened before. That's why I'm usually not into prequels and can count the ones I do like on one hand. (SNW is on that short list of prequels I like, just not to the same degree).
2. The characters. Who's in these shows makes a difference. SNW has an advantage here because we didn't get to know very much about the Enterprise-G crew. If they're going to be the main focus, that has to change. Though Seven has a huge head-start, as well as Raffi and Jack to a lesser extent.
3. The formats. We already got to see the difference between a potential Legacy series and SNW, if you treat Picard Season 3 like Legacy Season 0. You can't tell me with a straight-face that PIC Season 3 and SNW are the same. If anyone does, I'll be so bold as to say they're liars. PIC Season 3 and SNW are nothing alike. And changing the name of the Titan to the Enterprise won't change that.
And these two shows would NOT run at the same time for long. They're making the third season of SNW in 2023. The strikes won't go on for rest of the calendar year. By the time Legacy would go into production, SNW would be making its fourth season. If, if SNW runs five seasons -- just like DSC -- then, if they put SNW Season 4 first, then only one more season of SNW would be released after Legacy would premiere. There wouldn't be as much overlap as people think.
