Why not Garrett Wang...

to play Sulu? As we saw on Star Trek: Enterprise, they tended to use previous Trek actors for their incarnation. I'm surprised Abrams decided to use a whole new group of people.

I dunno if any other Trek stars would of worked for this movie, but I think Garrett Wang could of made a good Sulu.

Thoughts?

He looks even less like TOS Sulu than Cho, who looks very little like George Takei. Why not Ethan Phillips for Spock or Scott Bakula for Scotty?

Also, could Jeri Ryan play Uhura?

She's a girl, right?

What about Armin Shimmerman as the baby spock? He had a round head.

Why not Garrett Wang...?

'Cos hes Chinese American.

John Cho is Korean American, but still didnt stop J.J. from casting him, so my LOL is void at this moment.

Or, to throw the ball out of the grounds, into the parking lot and through J.J.'s Mercedes Shuttle wind sheild...

Chappelle as Chappel.

Couldnt resist.;)

The fact is that Garrett Wang had a flaky work record while Voyager was running, and he hasn't been working a great deal as an actor since that show wrapped. In this case, opting for an actor who takes his job seriously sounds like the better bet.

I also seem to recall that Wang was about to get the axe around "Scorpion" but then People magazine went and named him one of their "most beautiful people" so they gave Jennifer Lien the boot instead (though she apparently had her own problems IIRC).

The facts according to who??? I'm sorry... are you part of the production staff of VOY? Seriously, you need to back that up

How do you know he hasn't been working a great deal? He hasn't done a lot of film and tv but you're assuming he hasn't been doing any stage acting (which imdb doesn't mention) or that he hasn't been involved in the arts on other levels. I don't know how you can assume that he doesn't take acting seriously.

There are a lot of reasons why he shouldn't be Sulu... for one his name is a slang for penis and that wouldn't look great in the opening credits on the bigscreen.

We did see Wang recently in Star Trek Of Gods and Men. Does that count for acting? As for being Sulu..... That aint right!

And how about this. Much like Shatner he is a sucky actor. Great at being Harry Kim(Like Shatner was great at Kirk) but that's it. He just wouldn't work.

Denny Crane, bitches. And Crane ain't a Kirk. So I think Shat > Kim except on Tuesday when it's dark.
