Why no U.S.S. Cochrane?

No majorly important ships, anyway. But then he's had a lot of things named after him.

If I'm not mistaken, Voyager had a shuttlecraft called Cochrane, that made a pretty (in)famous flight.

I just realized that, as far as I can remember, Trek has never named a ship after the (human) father of warp drive. Seems odd.

There were two starships named Cochrane.

Oh, good. Then it's just my memory failing and not a terrible oversight by the writers.

I got to be honest, an Oberth class ship named after someone as important to Trek history as Zephram Cochrane seems a bit odd. You'd think he'd rate at least a Nebula class ship.
I’m not sure Cochrane had the same cachet in the lore before First Contact out-of-universe.

I think I would've rather it been an oversight.
 Don't get me wrong. I don't want my memory to get so bad that I forget Lt. Leonard Thomas Rozhenko captained the U.S.S.R. Farragut Q, but I'm happy at least some of the countless Trek writers didn't forget to name SOMETHING after such an in-universe famous man and that I just forgot it or didn't realize it.

Unless one was being used to test new engines for new starship designs...
