Why isn't Michael Dorn in this movie?

Re: Why isn't MadBaggins' cousin in this movie?

:wtf:
...You lost me there for a minute. Why exactly does Dorn need to be in this movie, other than because he was in the last 5? If some of us are arguing to leave Shatner out because there's no reason for him to be in it, I'm positive Dorn will be in the top of that list. Dorn was a TNG/DS9 actor, and just because some think TUC was successful because of a Dorn cameo doesn't mean it wins him a spot. Does a guy really have to piss of the directors to be excluded?

I think you should just stick with cousin threads...

You mean he isn't? And he wasn't on Voyager either! For that matter, why wasn't Worf on Stargate? They had every other character actor in sci-fi.

EXACTLY. The only reason he wasn't in the FIRST five is because he hadn't been invented yet.

Yes...there was nothing quite like seeing Worf back in his old lackey-to-Picard role after being an Ambassador.

Yeah...now THERE was a step forward in his career path.

Think of it as a lateral career move.

;)

Nah, Dorn was invented well before the first 5 Trek movies. His disco sensibilities were roller-dancing the nights away with Estrada and the gang through the late 70s...

:guffaw:

Anyway, MadBaggins, Michael Dorn was already a Star Trek actor playing the role of Worf by the time they made TFF, a film which featured the Klingons prominently. Care to rationalise his non-presence?

This movie should be all about Worf. He should spend the entirety of the film playing tennis with the Balok puppet.

I've contacted my congressman about this matter. He agrees it's terrible, and promised me he'd look into it as soon as he was done using the bathroom. Said something about a wide stance.

That's easy: SHATNER. He directed and wrote Trek 5 all by himself and would NEVER have allowed Dorn to appear, despite the fans crying out for it. He knew Dorn would one day rival and surpass him as the most popular Trek actor. Luckily Kirk is now DEAD in the future and Shatner legally CAN NOT appear in Trek 11, whereas Worf is alive and well and could easily have been sent to Romulus to contact Ambassador Spock where he finds Spock jumping through a time portal and decides to follow him into the past...

Well, at least you got that Mad part correct.

ARE YOU TELLING ME that they can't find a way to include Michael Dorn in Trek 11!? They even have Winona Ryder in it and ask any Trek fan who they'd rather have in a movie, Ryder or Dorn and they would say Dorn!
Nope, I rather have Winona Ryder. :p

You are not being funny at all, y'know?
Well, either that, or some rather anal Dorn fanboi....

Dorn was in GEN, FC, INS and NEM because was a former TNG castmember. In FC they invented an excuse to bring him along, in INS they had a half-hearted attempt at an excuse, and in NEM none was given.

He was in NEM because of the wedding, better excuse than INS as they just said "could you delay your return to DS9" but no reason (on film anyway not read the novel) to why he was there in the first place.

On the contrary, MadBaggins, I can't stop laughing at your posts in this thread. Thank you very much! Keep defending the Worf, my friend. I love it!!

Yes, because we all know that Dorn was salivating at the thought of slipping into Trek V. Would you mind citing examples of this fan outcry, pretty please?

He knew Dorn would one day rival and surpass him as the most popular Trek actor.
Nope, I think Shatner firmly holds the popularity trophy. Note how we get 2 or 3 new "Where is Shatner?!?" threads a week, and we have 1 "Where is Dorn?!?" thread where most of us aren't even taking the post overly seriously.
Luckily Kirk is now DEAD in the future...
Well, fancy that. Something I do agree with.

...riiight. Because Nero or Spock or someone keeps their time portals where any old messenger boy can find it. Even if that messenger boy is Worf
