Why is it?

That's why I don't play too often. It makes me get too worked up, when it's supposed to be a relaxing thing! Some of the more difficult races in Test Drive Unlimited make me obsessed with completing them, while swearing a blue streak all the way through. I probably go through the same level of stress as I might in a fight or something, it's crazy! I haven't played it in a long time, as I began to suspect it could be messing with my blood pressure!

Most of the time for me, it is my vent where I can bring the aggression of the day where I won't be taking it out on a real person. My occasional 'bullshit!' and 'what the fuck?!?' and 'Take it like a man you pansy-ass sniper!' sound like minor outbursts compared to what some of you are talking about.

One of the reasons I seldom play video games is that they are too irritating; which doesn't make me mad, it makes me bored. I prefer games like Infocom's interactive fiction.

You're not playing the right games, Venardhi. :p

For example, I can play The Bigs, or any tennis or golf game without a single outburst.

The occasional /ragequit is just part of gamer life. We've all been there.

Well maybe not girl gamers? Probably more level headed and sensible.

My husband's not like that at all when he's gaming. When I used to play World of Warcraft though? I'd yell all sorts of things at the computer. I don't really think of it as getting all that angry though ... I can't imagine throwing things!

Haha yeah, because you know I was so level-headed and sensible in Arathi Basin when a rogue would come after me!

I'd use to be that while playing games before I finally resigned myself to the fact that the only way to decrease the anger is to simply get better at the game.

In traffic I swear loads though  But it's either that or take it out by trying to nudge other people cars, so I'll stick with the swearing.

I have played very few video games in my life, but the few I have played, yes, I got VERY FUCKING PISSED OFF if I died inappropriately or my opponent just beat the shit out of me or something. I don't find that enjoyable, which is why I don't play video games. Sort of like why I do't watch Bill O'Reilly.

I don't play games. Although I am considering starting.

:sigh:

You were an indestructable paladin, you probably just clicked auto-attack then went for a sandwich!

(ps all rogues will soon fear my shaman. zap!)

She meant :techman:

Yeah, it certainly seemed like a sort of "Great idea, I only wish I could be there to play them with you all day! Oh, and get a PS3, they're Blu-ray!!!" kind of sigh.

Seems like it might be a good untapped source of spaceships, and other cool spacey like stuff now that I have exhausted the medium of film...

Half-Life 2 and Mass Effect are better science fiction stories than you'll get in most movies and TV shows these days.

And the story in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic beats the shit out of the prequels.

Or a "I spent half my life between the ages of 16 and 25 watching people play video games and it makes me want to drive and icepick through my fucking skull, especially those idiotic story/quest games" kind of sigh.

Its a subtle difference.

I don't know about video games. Only my brother played those and he wasn't bad tempered when playing (Just when doing anything else), but my grandpa used to yell obscenities at the TV when watching football. But then, he'd yell obscenities at anything at the smallest provocation.

Yes, my boyfriend does this as well. Normally a very quiet and nice man, but starts playing games and suddenly he is cussing and throwing shit and it is very not pleasant. I have to leave the room and put on some music because it starts to stress me out. I don't get why you would continue to play the game if it's making you so mad, especially when it is a silly online flash game. He gets mad at those all the time.

I get frustrated with certain aspects of games sometimes, especially when you feel something is unfair, but I just stop caring at that point and turn the game off.

My husband, who is normally a civil, thoughtful and intelligent human being, turns into a total asshole when he's driving. The older he gets, the more of an asshole he's turning into behind the wheel. I think it might be a similar phenomena to the games thing. :(
