Why is it still the EARTH/Romulan War?

But if the war was big enough to encompass all the Coalition races, then it makes little sense that the one they fought with the weakest of them (Earth) would be the one most remembered. And seeing how the Federation is made up of all the races involved on the Allies side you'd think they would've just decided to name it the Coalition-Romulan War, or just "The Romulan War". It just makes no sense it'd be so Earth-centric.

Unless we subscribe to my revisionist history theory..

Sure it could be. The underdog fighting a fight and winning or at least to stalemate is something of merit. Say something like 13 tiny colonies beating the crap out of the largest empire of the time on Earth. And did those colonies do it? Sure they had aid from other nations but they didn't do the fighting, they rendered aid and goods and training.

I'm saying that an Earth/Romulan War is still very possible, just more than likely not near the scale as it sounded in TOS etc.

Works for me.

the way i wrote it in my fan-fic, the Romulans tried to thwart Earth's expansion - seeing that they were starting to look like they could unite the other races - Earth fought back, getting technical aid from Vulcan to build resupply bases further out from Earth for the slower ships to use. the Andorians and Tellarites were only drawn in when their ships were attacked by Romulan forces pursuing Earth vessels into the Weytahn and Tellar systems. Andor and Tellar then put ships together with Earth's task groups to fight the Romulans. The Romulans put a fleet together at Cheron, but Earth found it, led and attack and destroyed a large chunk of the fleet. A small group managed to attack the Earth system, but were thwarted by the 'home guard' squad.

the Romulans were forced to sue for peace because their fleet had taken such a humiliating loss and thus were forced back behind the Neutral Zone.

Earth then set about persuading the other Coalition races to form the Federation because of the threat from the Klingons and the Romulans and who-knew-who-else.

Picard also spoke of the Earth/Romulan War as that and their primitive atomic weapons on both sides.

When?

Actually I theorized something similar. I think the novels might have taken a different approach, but I'm not sure (haven't read them yet).

I agree with many of those posters. Earth probably didn't fight alone and it couldn't have. We saw a major earth city in that scene where the Federation Charter was being signed. It looks great. Surely the Romulans, who have been warp capable for centuries and centuries, would be able to bombard most of Earth's major cities. They had help. Also it's possible Earth led the peace talks, because the other races had ages old strife with each other like Vulcans, Andorians and Tellarites, Denobulans and Antarean. So the war was named after Earth...

as i understand it, yes, they have. for one thing, my fan-fic includes 10 NX class ships and the other lesser ships (Sarajevo type, Intrepid type and the other one) being at least warp 3 capable thanks to upgrades.

also, i wrote it before the Destony trilogy and
the revelation that Columbia was lost, presumed destroyed before the war began.

or the Romulans
use of hacking Earth ship computers
was introduced
