Why is Hiro still a fat ass?

ZeNd

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
4 Seasons into Heroes and Hiro is still a happy-go-lucky fat ass. What gives?

That character had so much potential season 1 with the alternate reality. If I was Hiro I would of gotten ripped by now and demanded the writers turn me into a bad ass like they originally intended. I probably would of even requested that I become evil or maybe "gray area" bad.

It just sickens me how much better of a character Hiro could of been.

WTF? He is no fat ass. He looks about normal.
What the hell are your standards based on?

You can play mad libs with the above template and any Heroes character. Odds are it'll work.

Why are people bothering with this trash? All I hear is "Heroes si trash, but I will give it one more season" and they just keep bitching.

he/she probably lives in the world where he/she thinks runway model's are normal sized....

Weight issues notwithstanding, I think the original poster is concerned about the lack of the character progression of Hiro (which could be applied to any Heroes character, as evidenced by the third poster). But I think it's especially disheartening with Hiro because he was us. In the first season you had people as diverse as politicians, nurses, sex workers and watchmakers getting these incredible abilities and didn't know how to cope with them. But then you had this office drone/fanboy who knew exactly what he had to do and we were offered an intriguing look of how he embraced his powers and his mission and we cheered because he had the sword and the pony tail and the perfect English and whatnot. Fast forward three seasons later and he's still that same office drone/fanboy with no sword and no pony tail and stuck with the [Krusty the Klown]"Me so solly."[/Krusty The Klown] accent (which is becoming a painful stereotype now). It's painful to watch him bumble around when you see such actors like John Cho and Sandra Oh shattering those kind of stereotypes.

This also works for a lot of shows.

What really annoys me is that they had the perfect opportunity last season to give us perfect english/ponytail Hiro and they blew it. When he was stuck in the past he was only, what, 15 years or so behind? Have him live those years normally and show back up in the present day new and improved and matured.

I would hardly call Hiro a fat-ass. He's normal, average-sized guy. He just has a round face. He's certainly not heavier than the Matt Parkman character, who is overweight by description--especially for a police officer. I think the greater question is why is Peter still an idiot?

The writers think keeping Hiro in his dorky season one mode for the entire series is what fans want. Obviously they are insane.

I don't get the question. Once he found out he could teleport, why would he ever take another step? Of COURSE he's a fat ass! ;)

Not to the level of heroes. I said that with House last year and it improved towards the end. HEROES the people just watch the show to bitch about how bad it is.

Hmmm.

4 Seasons into Heroes and Claire is still a hottie. What gives?

That character had so much potential season 1 with being the cheerleader needing saved in order to save the world. If I was Claire I would of gotten ripped by now and demanded the writers turn me into a bad ass like they originally intended. I probably would of even requested that I become evil or maybe "gray area" bad.

:rommie:

Well I'll hand it to ya, that would be a lot more interesting than the...uh, "fatass" is a bit cruel, how about "innocuous little panda bear"?...that we are now being treated to. But I don't think Masi Oka has it in him as an actor to credibly pull off a badass role.

I usually have opinions on how to improve characters so they stop sucking so much, but I'll admit, Hiro has me stumped. I just don't see what the writers could do that would be consistent with the character's backstory and the actor's abilities that would be at all worth watching. Hiro must die. Tracey and Claire are in the same boat. This show sure has a lot of awful actors.

I think the greater question is why is Peter still an idiot?

You might as well ask why Peter has brown eyes. :rommie: It's a core characteristic. All I ask is that his stupidity be non-obvious and interesting. He's now progressed to doing stupid things that a moderately astute person might not realize are stupid at all.

If you're going to use this as a mad libs template, perhaps you should fix the 2 "would of's" and 1 "could of" to "would have" and "could have".
