"The Title of my Thesis Paper for B-School. That's lingo for Business School. Let me get out my Power Point presentation. Here we go. My conclusion is based on lack of Return On Investment, which I will cover in detail. But before I properly begin, let me say that all of this is based on consumer interest and what the average hard-working American is willing to spend from what they've earned thanks to Trickle Down Economics originally pioneered by former President Ronald Reagan...

yadda, yadda, yadda...

yakkity shmack...

... And let us not forget the sheer folly of a Franchise that purports to champion a Humanity that has outgrown the need for material wealth and is not driven by a monetary economy. Did Gene Roddenberry nor his successors realize that Star Trek only exists because of the studios interest in money which it fails to provide?

blah, blah, blah...

Now, after all that, here's the reason why I think STD sucks. Sorry for the lack of professionalism. I meant to say here's the reason why I believe Star Trek: Discovery to be an inferior product. I've bullet-pointed a list of 93 items...

wot-ta-wot-ta-wot-ta-wot...

... And thus is the reason why I believe the current season of Star Trek: Disovery will be its last."

You made me choke on my noodles.

This is my favourite Trek BBS post of today.

Or the biggest fan produced fan film production. Everybody working to make all these shows are doing it for the love of Trek and don't even get paid. CBS allows them to do it only because they are cheap and can run them as new Trek without having to spend any money making them.

Tell that to the bean counters at Paramount+, not us. Star Trek is doing well enough that Paramount+ is keeping these series going. When it's not, they'll stop making them. So clearly they're privy to business information you're not, no matter how authoritative you try to make yourself sound.

"But it's not catching on!" You've confused me with someone who gives a shit. All I know is they're still making more. When they stop or they slow down, then I'll talk about this more seriously... but when I do, it's not going to be with someone who wants the show to fail and is using TrekBBS as practice for trying out to be a FOX News pundit.
Didn't Viacom just lose like 22% of stock value? and their popularity ratings of their own shows is an indication of nothing; even then, Paramount itself says 1883 is their most popular show, not disco. The rest of your comment is meaningless ad hominem dribble. Also, this a forum for trek fans to give their opinion, whether you give a shit or not is irrelevant.

Wow. Nice first post. Way to introduce yourself to The Forum.

Please don't tell me you registered on this board just to post that.

Viacom, in fact, gained 1,378% of their stock value when trades closed on the 70th of last month. 1883 is over 1,883 times less popular than Star Trek: Discovery, which has been signed for a thirty-seventh and final season followed by a ten-movie deal "with a considerably higher budget."

This is my opinion, so fuck whatever yours is.

By the way, opinion isn't the problem. The problem is trying to present opinion as fact or trying to take fact and spin-doctoring it to fit an agenda. The problem is trying to make a case and only selecting sources that confirm bias while ignoring or omitting sources that don't.

I can only go by what I see. If a show is failing, you don't keep that show and make four more to pad out the year. They're in an expansion mode. Franchises that are failing don't expand, they contract.

Now for my opinion: by the time the number of Star Trek shows begins to contract, and it will eventually, Discovery will have already been long over with. DSC will end on its own terms.
